Biggest improvement I'm looking for is a way to deal with ActiveSync password changes. HIPAA policy demands we change our corporate passwords, and when users do this and forget to change them on their phone they lock their accounts since iOS won't prompt them to enter a new one.

Anyone see fixes for this in 7 or have any workarounds?

Maybe they should also release a professional looking theme that doesn't look like Hello Kitty meets My Little Pony and let all of us benefit.

Personally I want to see a Judge Dredd theme and have all the icons look like small, yet substantial boulders.

I just don't understand how you can use iOS efficiently in business if you cannot even copy document to/from it without iTunes

It depends on the use. My wife is in medical sales, and her company issued iPads to all sales representatives. They primarily use them for three purposes:

1) Collecting doctors' signatures upon the receipt of samples.
2) Displaying promotional material when speaking with doctors.
3) Communicating via email and chat while in the field.

According to my wife, the program has been a huge success.

With everything in the cloud, business is not about Microsoft Office, copy and USB anymore

Maybe it never was. We have to think different!

The best thing about this article is the icon, which is actually well designed IMO, will never see the light of day...irony

I guess Apple sees a huge opportunity to be made in the enterprise with iOS. Because they sure have left enterprise desktops/laptops for Microsoft :(

Is it just me or is everything iOS 7 seem cartoonish? I hate it... Can we please have forestall back!!!

So, you just dragged document onto iPad icon to put it there?
Oh, wait, there is no SIMPLE way to do it, you have to use elaborate multi-step schemes involving clouds/mail/whatever, just to do the simplest task ever.
Since when is dragging the file to the device the requirement and if thats what you want then its probably soon with airdrop. I have no issues. I create a file on my desktop and it's instantly on my ipad.

So explain, what is the simplest way to use iPad to modify an excel table situated on corporate file server?

I tap the app, find the file, and tap it. Done.

None of the recent places I've worked for use a simple network folder anymore. Again very 2000's. They are all using either a cloud service or something internal like sharepoint. Services which have better version controls, document work flows, etc.

You can over the internet, but yes, with the lack of a file system (or lack of access to) it is pretty difficult to transfer documents without iTunes.

It has a file system but being locked. Once you jailbreak your device, you can transfer documents freely via SSH (using client like Transmit)

There are apps that can access files over WebDAV, SMB or AFP. FilesConnect is an app I use for this purpose and it works very well. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a multitude of apps like it. Businesses tend to rely on file servers. We do, so this have never been a problem for us, and most likely no other company with file servers either.

The ability to transfer documents to and from any iOS device is severely crippled with being attached to iTunes at the hip. Oh, don't even get me started about iCloud. I wish it was simpler to transfer documents to the iPhone without iTunes.

You must have missed the news about iWork for iCloud!

Yeah, I mean it has to have a file system and while you can do jailbreak and access it, in most business/education settings it wouldn't be viable to transfer documents.

Your password expires in 7 days. Replace Now/Replace later. Every 60 days for me. Big headache. :apple:

I absolutely love everything Apple is doing right now. They are back to focusing on the little things... way to get to back to some of Steve's roots - nice work Jony & Tim!!!

What up :apple:

A lot of this they already did for you with DOS 3.3 that shipped with the Apple II.

Local manipulation of documents is not going to be around forever. May as well adapt now so it isn't as much of a shock later. While you're at it, you can also remove those floppy and zipp drives.

You talk as if everyone thinks like you. If the concept of "File Manager" was a thing of the past then why do we still see Finder on OS X and Windows Explorer on Windows? That is because people still need the ability to manage files outside of the applications that use them. Floppy drives and zip drives are gone but we still have USB drives.
