I was at this site at an apple store with a friend that works at it the other day. He says he visits often, and posts. I don't know ( and didn't want to ) his scree name on here. I showed him my setup in the Macintosh setups gallery. He loved my setup, and other people in his store liked my random Apple product boxes in the background!

Fun fun!

No, you're not allowed to post here anymore, but nobody actually listens to that. Well correction, no sales person has to. If you're a corporate suit, I understand. It's probably for the best, and you shouldn't risk your job. However, as a sales rep, you won't know squat. :p Also, they could never find out unless you told people what store you worked at, which would be idiotic.

There's a bunch of Apple employees who post/posted here.

You know how Apple wants to keep their secrets secret. Being a sales person you will know what you are getting in on the truck. Considering the fact that the apple stores had the Nano's in their store room at least a week before the media blitz it would not be hard for a sales person to hop on a board and confirm the "rumor" that a nano existed before the blitz.

Some people would state, OK just don't post any "Insider" knowledge on the boards. That may work for some but , for me anyway, the temptation would just be too great.

All that being said, congrats on your new job. we will miss you. If you want to come back and say hi I am sure we will all still be here.

Apple Store employees don't know as much as you'd think. It would only take a single Apple Store or Reseller employee working at any one of the stores located around the world, to leak some info before news would break out.

What are the chances of every single salesperson around the world keeping their mouth shut before a big release? None, and yet there isn't always a leak on every Apple product released. There are some leaks, but a lot more speculation. If these salespeople are "in the know," why so much speculation and not pure facts? Why not more leaked photos, photos of packaging/boxes?

I'm sure there's a few people at every store who know exactly what is being shipped from Apple to their store, and that it's supposed to be kept secret. However, I don't believe that salespeople know that much. It might depend on each individual stores effort to keep things hidden from sales staff.

If t300 continued posting here like many Apple salespeople do, I don't think it would be a big deal. They come here for the rumours and hoopla as well. However, I would consider it a major offense if a manager were to post, because he probably DOES know things.

When you work for Apple you're not allowed to post on, or even visit, any Mac rumor sites. They make you sign a thing saying you won't. Or so I've been told...

I'd have to look through my paperwork to tell if this is true. I know the only thing that's agreed upon is that you do not confirm or deny rumors that customers try to talk to you about.

Screw em. Apple store ain't worth the measly wage they pay you to deal with the snotty mac users (those who buy it for status, not because of dedication).

They can't tell if you post here or not. They can't trace your internet connection from your home.

I broke the rules at Apple. You think there's going to be some kind of great atmosphere when you get there. They tell you that they'll help you achieve your goals toward a career in Apple, when nothing is further from the truth. They don't give a **** about you or what you want. You're just a low-level employee to them.

I am going to side with Onizuka on this one, and honestly it doesn't matter, if you are one of the sales people at an apple store it is the exact same thing as if you were working at a wallmart, your in retail, welcome to the worst job on earth.

I think that if you are allowed to bend the rules in a hospital (like i do) which is an actual important job, then you can bend the rules at some stupid retail store, or just at apple in general. (depending on where you are working)

WRONG The Apple Stores didn't know anything about the Nano's and they weren't scheduled to arrive until the day after the announcement anyway. The back of house guys can speculate with new part numbers on machines, but there were none in the system for the Nano.

Apple store employees know very, very little about any new products until they are announced officially by Apple. That's how Apple keeps its secrets tight. Everything else comes from sources inside CORPORATE level or sources that know those sources.

The folks here at the Charlotte Apple Store have indicated to me that they are allowed to VISIT rumor sites, but they are forbidden to post ANYTHING, even non-related stuff. It's a terminable offense.

That makes more sense, you should be allowed to visit. Good luck in your new position!
