Expensive high quality products = customers look after them and keep them working as long as humanly possible.

Giving rebates to everyone returning a broken product when they buy a new one = recycling.

Cheap rubbish products = throwaway.

Seriously, what kind of idiot would throw away a £1500 laptop? Macs last for ages, and when the user buys something new and better, they are handed down.

To be able to be used for as long as humanly possible, they don't have to be designed and engineered as expensive disposable products.

I'm sorry, you're claiming Apple is "snuggling up" to Pres. Obama based on the recent media fire over the IRS targeting social welfare groups that broke IRS tax law by becoming politically involved, didn't pay taxes and were open about their refusal to pay taxes under our current President? Doesn't make sense.

Hiring the former head of the EPA to head their environmental division and P.R. makes business sense. I don't believe Apple is planning on releasing personal information to our government, especially as this is Pres. Obama's last term. Who know who will be in office in 2016.

My you certainly like to assume... my comment was off the cuff with a bit of sarcasm, but no where does it mention taxes and all the other dialog you so creatively dreamed up. :)

Ah, lol ok I thought you were serious. A lot of people have been making assumptions similar to yours so I assumed you were serious (tone online sometimes hard to read). The response was based on others who truly thought that was serious. If you followed the comments in this thread, it's mind boggling. :p

;-)

Btw, that iOS v7.x.x does not run on iPT 4 hardware is also not very environmentally friendly.

...A man in Japan invented a machine that can take any plastic material, any, and break it down into reusable oil, etc. The machine uses less energy than a light bulb. It's amazing. I've posted this once before, and highly recommend watching, if for nothing more than the common love of tech we all have.
...
This is a rumor. ;-)

Considering that the EPA did illegal testing on human subjects Lisa Jackson will fit right in the next time a story runs complaining about working conditions at Foxconn.

Ultimately, I think Apple hired her for the same reason it put Al Gore on the board... connections.

and they hired her, a proven incompetent, soon after being shaken down by Sander Levin. Yeah, just a coincidence.

Since everybody, and I mean everybody, knows _why_ batteries in some Apple products are not replaceable and knows about the compromises involved, which all in all give a superior product, I only can imagine that you are trying intentionally to annoy people with your posts.
