All these hirings really make me think this new device won't be launched in 2014... Or maybe in time for Christmas? New Apple device + good price (?) could sell a lot in the holidays.

Upon a further critical reading of the article, no hire date was announced. It was only quoting "Philips confirmed to 9to5Mac that Raymann no longer works at the company, but would not say where he was currently employed." Who is to say this happened yesterday or even last week. Perhaps it was late in 2013 or mid-2013?

Yes because this device is strictly sleep monitoring. No. It is a device that has absolutely never been done before, and will be revolutionary with respect to health in general. It will save lives. Despite people not being aware of what Apple plans with this, or their ambitious future plans with it, it will be on the bodies of 10s of millions of people, monitoring their vitals. Health tech is the future, and it will absolutely save people's lives. Apple has the power, and customer base to put this on millions upon millions of people's bodies, whereas others do not. It's the first time a product like this has been attempted, much less by a company which will deliver it to so many people.

Of course there are always those self conscious people who don't want a device that might help their health, because they feel bad about themselves for their state of health, and don't want something that will alert them to their poor health state.

If you 'believe' Apple will make you healthier, you have problems, serious ones! I just hope you don't think Apple gave the world a phone that never existed before, because it certainly did not. You should NEVER rely on some gadget sold to make profit more then your own body and a doctor. Have a problem with sleep? You will know that already and where to go for help, and it certainly isn't going to be Apple.
However I can tell your opinion is basically wrong, because you somehow think Apple are going to 'save lives'? ............. so wrong on so many levels if you truly believe that.
And then to basically accuse those that reject the idea of some health monitoring tech as having psychological problems... priceless.

so it won't be able to read any messages, but you can use siri to reply to the text message that you weren't able to read? i don't see your logic.

I bet it'll read your messages to you, interactive Siri.

Yeah you know nothing, just lack of intelligence, it's okay though.

You may be right about your second point, but you are most certainly wrong about your first.

Please cite a time when Apple has hired someone simply because they don't want another company to have them. Where they've done so and not used that person to help further themselves but only to stop others from doing the same.

Actually cite a time that any smart company has done that.

Fail = Didn't sell well
Sucks = It wasn't a revolutionary product, therefore people won't kill for it.

But at the Shuffle's sales peak that model is estimated to have accounted for over 1/3 of all iPod sales -- talking millions of units. How is that not something consumers didn't kill for?

If the iwatch can count how much masurbation i need to get an orgasum and track my progression over time, ill buy one on day one.
...and we're back at motion-charging the iWatch...thanks for a disturbing picture

I'm hoping Apple and other device manufacturers will address the blue wavelength LED sleep deprivation health issue. Anyone familiar with this issue? Are manufacturers even acknowledging it?
So far a non-issue for the industry (as far as I know form last IFA in Berlin)...but that may also be ecause it is very easy to avoid that issue by just not having the phone in your bedroom or maybe even daring to switch it off during the night:eek:

lol... sleep expert ?

Of all the crazy ideas...

Apple can't afford to botch things up so they hire someone who will do it for them, then they can sack them as "It's all your fault."

This is how it works now eh?

The funny thing is that often those who are hired don't even know they are being played like that. This happens in every industry where there are standout individuals or in localised markets. One of the most significant reasons why high profile or high skilled individuals are hired is because of their access to go on hiring others in that speciality field.

I am not saying that is the case here, I merely raised it as one possibility.

Ok, go ask any teen what they prefer if you are willing to give it as a gift: a Shuffle or an iPod Touch? I bet my money they will kill for the iPod Touch not the Shuffle. But it's ok if you don't want to understand my point, I'm done explaining.
