Apple has updated the home page of its website to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today. The page highlights some of King's most impactful quotes, and invites people to explore his legacy further through the Apple Books and Apple News apps.

Apple CEO Tim Cook also honored King in a social media post today.

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the United States. As a result of this federal holiday, along with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration later today, it is likely to be a slower day for Apple-related product news. Cook will reportedly be in attendance at Trump's inauguration, alongside many other high-profile CEOs.

On the day we honour a true American hero that worked for justice and freedom for all people,
We swear into office a man and a party that has as their stated goal of tearing down what King began and so many of us have worked for.
It is appropriate that today is Blue Monday.

MR I appreciate you putting your post up but why even bother making posts like this when all people are going to do is dishonor King and make it about their own political opinion to try and get people to engage with them in some argument?

In the "Explore his Legacy" at the bottom (below a page with three quotes) is anyone else getting more than an Apple audiobook link and a single Apple News BBC story link? It seems like there should be a little more. Maybe someone could have said hey folks let's push for a third link - maybe to The King Center - or one of the other millions of non commercial resources out there on MLK. Just saying.

Becasue you need to compare what King sacrificed to something or it's no sacrifice at all.
You know who apparently gave his life for us, but if doing that was an everyday thing then it has less of an impact, you can see that no?

It seems history is correcting itself for the many great people America has produced in the past by dropping big t*rds
As a European, I'm absolutely amazed at what's going on in the US. And I worry deeply for the Ukrainians and Palestinians.

Yeah I don't need the people of MacRumors or anyone else to give me comparables or a history lesson on Dr. King. I know what a great man he was and the contributions he made towards making the world a better place. A simple acknowledgment of that is all that's needed here, not political rhetoric.

National Holidays are set by Congress; the Presidential Inauguration date is set by the 20th Ammendment to the Constitution, proposed by Congress and sent to the States for ratification.

MLK is set as a floating date; the third Monday of January each year, the Inauguration is a fixed date: 20 January. The 2025 schedule "conflict" is just something we will have to live with. :)

Here some inspirational quotes for next year:

“White Americans must recognize that justice for black people cannot be achieved without radical changes in the structure of our society.”

“The evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and evils of racism.”

I'm starting to think the only way the people will ever stop worshipping false idols and stand together regardless of race is when the owners have taken everything from all of us and shown us that none of us hold any value to them besides what profits we can generate for them.
