Strange, I’ve got a very old @Mac/@me/@mobileme account and have 5 different devices all setup with my iCloud account, and even tried restarting a couple to confirm, but I’m all good. 👍 Not impacted by this. So it’s definitely not ALL of these type of accounts (old).

I feel for those of you impacted by this. Such a huge PITA to deal with.
Seeing stories of folks still being impacted by this, and just want to clarify that I've got a super old @Mac.com account setup with iCloud on 5 devices, along with Family Sharing, and none of us in our Family have been impacted by this. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to who's been impacted and why.

My Apple ID is one of the old MobileMe ("@me.com") addresses. Wondering if it is something to do with this as my partner and other family members had no issue, but had iCloud accounts created much later on.

Can anyone else confirm if their affected Apple ID is a @me.com address?

My account is also a @.mac one. This seems to be a possible common factor, along with @.me ones.

Anyone with an account not @.mac or @.me been affected?

I have a .Mac and .me account, but none of my devices were logged out.

I didn't mean to imply that all .Mac and .me were affected. That is certainly not the case as for you. But it does seem that most of the affected ones are .mac or .me.

Reports from people who have been affected who have accounts which do not use .mac or .me would be interesting.

Note that old .mac and .me accounts can use .iCloud interchangeably, and no doubt some people prefer to use .iCloud, but in this context they are old accounts of the type that seem to be most affected.

Yep....happened to me as well. I immediately thought I got hacked and so panicked a bit. Had to change my password and reauthorize 9 devices, including two Apple TVs and an Apple Watch. What a pain in the a@#! Unacceptable, Apple. Your software ecosystem has really gone to crap over the last few years. At least admit you screwed up and give us an explanation so we know what happened.

Yes...happened to me and I have an old .me account.

Another week, another Apple service fault. Really REALLY not good enough. And if they have been hacked again then they have an obligation to inform their customers.

At this point Apple is getting a reputation for poor reliability across its services. People will start looking at alternatives.
I have a Windows 11 laptop all ready to go. And it hasn't given me near the problems that Apple devices have lately. Only thing holding me back is a piece of development software I use daily. Runs like hot garbage in Windows, but super fast on my Macs. But I'm thinking the next update is going to fix that.

This morning it happened to my husband, who wasn't forced to go through the iCloud password resetting like me
He just got the prompt on his iPad
You need to sign in with your Appleid with the “allow” or “don’t allow” pop up
I told him to shut down the iPad and see, it's very similar to the March hack reported on MacRumors

Yup, happened to me just around midnight British summer time. Even interrupted a movie I was watching on my Apple TV. Had to do a full password reset and re-login on all devices plus generate app specific password. It even seems to have deleted my account recovery keys which I had to regenerate.

Very worrying at the time as I thought my account was under attack! Maybe it was, or maybe Apple’s infrastructure was being attacked. Looking forward to hearing a proper explanation. Only one out of three of my Apple IDs was affected and none of my family seems to have been affected.
Exactly the same happened to me:
1) 00.30 BST (the fact I wasn't asleep proves this wasn't great timing...)
2) Full password reset required AND didn't recognise my house as being a safe place so invoked stolen device delay
3) Deleted app specific passwords
4) No other Apple ID in the house involved

Interestingly:
1) I have a .Mac account. I think I have a .me alias still from MobileMe 1.0
2) My wife has a Google hosted domain and was fine (I discovered in the morning, she was asleep)
3) For those noting such things, I am head of the family (Apple ID wise)

Scared me because I'd just had to install team viewer to fix a stupid external monitor bug and I was terrified I'd opened up everything and was under attack. There was nothing on the internet to suggest I wasn't an isolated case at the time.

I haven’t had a reset but, I did notice that Apple no longer sees any familiar locations.
And even having 2FA ON it doesn't send a location/confirmation when I log in in iCloud anywhere on my devices as it used to be before changing the password, should I change it again in case it wasn't from Apple?

Oh thank goodness.

Happened to me on Friday night while we were watching Apple TV. Popped on all devices. Almost gave me a heart attack when it locked. I've been getting duplicate "a new [random apple device I definitely own] not has access to your account" messages since.

Changed my AppleID about a month ago after many years of being scared to do so, was afraid it was related.

And it was an old .me account, the .me address is still associated.

I do not have a .me or .mac email address but I have had this appleID for a very long time. This one was created for the iTunes store before there was an AppleID. So really old accounts might be a unifying theme, not just MobileMe and dotMac.

And no communication from Apple whatsoever. Super shady.
If they perma-stonewall on this one then I think it's time to start asking serious questions about what's going on behind the scenes that they won't - or worse can't - tell us about.
At this point if it's not a hack and Apple keeps it so secret , it could have been an AI experiment gone awry
and we are the lab mice

I've had to reset my Apple ID four times in the last 3 days. No particular pattern. Happened on iPhone, MacBook and setting up a new Apple TV. Ridiculous.

I'm not sure it's that simple.

If we assume a worst-case scenario, a breach that's not been fixed, then announcing it publicly could lead to more attacks or similar.

I'm not saying that's the case because it doesn't appear that any users are having their data leaked or accounts abused or anything similar.

It's worrying and annoying. But I haven't read of anyone facing more troubles than being locked out, or having to reset one or several many passwords.
I disagree. When major outlets like Forbes, 9to5Mac, AppleInsider, The Verge, and Mashable are reporting it Apple ought to acknowledge the reports and say they are investigating. It is the very least they could do. But no, they apparently feel they owe their loyal consumers nothing. This is audacity Apple has become.
