I don't get it.
They change the stuff they shouldn't like Apple ID, but keep silly names like anything Air around (except AirPods, that's fine).
Yeah, if Google, Microsoft and a host of others can do it, Tim probably thinks why can’t Apple do it. Tim “fashionably late to the party” Cook strikes again.Makes sense. Google, Microsoft, etc. have called it account for years.
I still use my @mac.com email!Sad to see this change. Reminds me of the good old days of having a @mac.com email address.
Agreed.I liked Apple ID more. It felt more unique and personal.
LOL ... You gotta love Apple PR ... and Macrumors just bowing to any PR published as is without question.Makes sense. Google, Microsoft, etc. have called it account for years.
... consistent sign-in experience across Apple services and devices ...
One member here still uses Holla@me.comI still use my @mac.com email!
The only appropriate response. 😆
Well, I'm not quite 40, so it's going to be awhile before they get me to shut up about anything! Hopefully.Maybe they are just waiting for all of us to just die off? PROBLEM SOLVED!
This frustrates me tooSo now I will have two Apple accounts because we still can’t merge Apple id’s? Awesome.
Absolutely legendary! And here I was thinking my first initial last name without any special characters was pretty cool....
The only appropriate response. 😆

This ain't rocket science, every company under the sun allows you to have a username and a separate email, what's stopping apple?
Given that Apple *could* handle the problem, the fact that they *haven't* handled it to date may indicate that they aren't interested in ever solving it.
Almost agree, until you have to contact apple support for something else & waste time explaining to the advisor why it is the way it is or trying to get rid of the 'said' email that is the account name (this is a major issue).Or possibly it’s a deeper rabbit hole than we know and they simply CAN’T fix it. In any case, the easiest solution is none at all because on a percentage basis it naturally becomes less of an issue over time. It’s just a real bummer for us loyal OG customers…
