I’m not very happy to see Apple continue working with a country like that after seemingly caring about it last year and announcing deals in India and other countries. Now that China isn’t a hot topic anymore they’re going back there? Blah.
I'm pretty sure if Apple had a realistic alternative to China, they would jump at it. As it is at the moment, their supply chain in China cannot be replicated anywhere else, so Apple's hands are effectively tied.

Does it really matters? In terms of number of Apple’s suppliers, China has already overtake Taiwan.

It doesn’t really matter if your iPhone made outside of China or not, you will still find Chinese made parts.
You missed the point entirely: the answer is not ‘all or nothing’.

Even a phone which mostly avoided PRC-made parts would be great. Countries like India, Taiwan, Vietnam can help support this.

Define "US made". Because I have no doubt that a sizable portion of Tesla parts and materials are either directly manufactured in China or indirectly through partners.

This is a global supply chain and China is in at the center of most supply chains.

Your "US made" Tesla, @Apple2GS ...

I'll stick with my US made Tesla.
This next quote is there from the article:
However, CATL, which is the world's biggest automotive battery maker and supplies several major car makers including Tesla, is reportedly "reluctant" to build a U.S. factory
So apparently the batteries to be sourced from China (and the main point and complaints of the comments) are already also sourced from that company by others. And I’m guessing also to Toyota, Hyundai, Ford, etc etc EV or hybrid vehicles for that matter.
Heck, if they are the best/cheapest at it for now…

My point: it is almost impossible to find thing without Chinese supplier at all.

It is also not all Chinese companies are connected to CCP, majority of Chinese companies are private. They supply just as good products as US made

100% agree. So let's stop making them there.

Apparently, China-USA trade deficit has not decline, but grew considerably after Trump take office. Such successes story in terms of boycotting China

The answer is not all or nothing:

I want nice Apple tech and I’d love to have the choice of where the product is manufactured.

I’d pay an extra 10% for an iPhone made outside China in countries such as India or Taiwan.

It goes beyond Apple and tech products. Vote with your conscience and currency and only purchase consumer goods not manufactured in China.

He would sell his own mother for a quick dollar, sooner he goes, the better, starting to get real stale at Apple Park on the innovation front.

Tim Cook's mother? Really? That's pretty low.

The good news is TC isn't going anywhere. He's doing an outstanding job as evidenced by the many millions of customers, many repeat, who pay premium prices for Apple products and services, year after year, after year.

Nissan collaborated with a Chinese battery company and then they released the Leaf. Lol. The issue isn’t that it’s made in China. The issue is that the Chinese gov has ownership in these companies so they don’t allow US R&D to contribute and in a partnership you’re bound to agreements/contracts so the battery hasn’t changed in over a decade lol

Sounds like Apple is wasting their time. Not hating but Tesla is already dominating the electric vehicle.
That’s like saying Apple shouldn’t make a smartphone because Blackberry already dominates the industry (which many people did say).

It’s a new product category though. I’d prefer they wait until they can source it elsewhere. But of course capitalism etc etc

I still do not get, why Apple tries to build a car, that is not their core business and I doubt, that they will be able to build a better car that e.g. BMW or Mercedes. Ok, as I German I have to say that ;)

But honestly, there are some parts in a car, like software and especially KI where Apple can contribute a lot, but a car, even an electric car, is much more that just software...

all service must be done at an apple shop and all parts will be serial number locked with an apple shop only tool needed to replace or service any thing.

They’re dreaming of a future where Apple is the cornerstone of your life. Eventually, the smartphone will be so ubiquitous that we’ll need new strategies and markets for Apple to be successful in to stay relevant. Hell, we might be there already!

There will be “iFixit shops” right around the corner though, with Louis Rossmann’s bike shop next door.

China…ugh. Why?! When Japan and SK companies are investing billions to make batteries 🔋 in America, right now! Last time I heard they are American allies and partners?? Why give $ to China!

Apple Car will doom Tim Cook's career at Apple....I am very confident in this... phone breaking down due to cheap parts and cars breaking down because of cheap parts are two completely different stories.
