The problem is benefit of the doubt.

Microsoft gets the BOD, so when they do okay the stock goes up and when they screw up it stays flat. So people watch for and exaggerate successes.

Apple doesn't get the BOD. When they do well, the stock often stays flat and when they screw up, it goes down. So people watch for and exaggerate failures.

Apples money maker are the iPhone and iPad. Macs aren't. When it comes to computers, Windows is king.

Last time I checked, money making was measured in profit:

I was thinking about switching to a Mac recently (iMac), but I have seen lots of comments on internet (even on Macrumors) like ''Apple will dissappear in next 10 years.'', ''Apple is dying without Jobs'' etc. I was thinking about work software is missing on macs than I started searcing, I found office for mac and iWork. They were both non-free software and they were pretty expensive. Than OS X Mavericks come out and Tim Cook said that iWork will came with macs for free. I felt happy then I've read comments about new iWork and everyone was complaining about how bad is new iWork! Everyone was saying Mavericks is bad. I'm really confused. I really liked iMac's design and OS X but I will use it for 5-6 years. Also iMacs are really expensive, I can afford it but I don't want to waste my money with a company that is disappearing. I've never used Macs. I don't want to belive that it's disappearing but: Is Apple is dying rant true  :( ? (sorry for my bad english)

A lot of this sort of guff is put out by people for whom the current Apple products don't meet "their needs" and so are automatically useless and Apple will be dieing any day now. Even Steve Jobs used to say that he wasn't trying to please everyone, Apple builds products for there Target Audience and then if you aren't in that area then you can buy someone else's product. At the moment however the Target Audience seems to cover a lot of people.

Look at the amount of stuff about Wozniack saying he isn't buying the new iPad Air as it doesn't meet his needs. ( not enough storage as he doesn't have broadband at home ) The iPad Air will still fly off the shelf like the older models did. Come February when upgrade from the 4S to a 5S then will also replace the mk1 iPad with either an iPad Air or a new iPad Mini with Retina. I have Broadband at Home and can tether the iPad to my iPhone with my contract for unlimited download so not having a 256Gb or larger Storage isn't an issue for me.

Who would have said 10 years ago that Blackberry and Nokia would be where they are now. I don't recall much in the way of analysts and experts predicting 10 years ago there fate.

In general with this sort of stuff, then look at it yourself ( find an AppleStore or friendly reseller near you ) and see if it meets your needs. If it meets "YOUR" needs and you can afford it then buy it.

I have upgraded my laptop and Mac Pro to Mavericks and is no worse then 10.8.5 was with them. I am waiting for Elgato to complete their testing before doing the mini.

I can predict the next year:
iPhone 6 and iPad 5th Generation...
Maybe an iPod touch 6th Generation.

However, 10 years.... I can't even predict who President would be.

Apple isn't going to disappear in 10 years. Even in the extremely unlikely event they suddenly go from most profitable tech company to a money loser over night, they have about $150B in cash to burn before they go in to debt! All that chatter about Apple being unable to survive without Steve and Tim being inept are nothing but FUD being spread by clueless stock market analysts and hedge funds.

Mavericks was released three days ago. For every person who says Mavericks is bad, there's another who says it's the best thing since sliced bread. Bugs exist on software, then they get fixed. That's why revision numbers to software are always advancing.

Stop believing everything you read on the internet, not all of it is true. Learn to differentiate opinion from fact. Learn to see FUD when it is being spread.

That being said, anyone who thinks Apple will be gone in 10 years, I have a bridge I want to sell him.

You said just what was going to be in my rant, when you are on top, cretins are hoping for your fall. Laptops may well go the way of the Dodo, but Apple will meld iOS/OSX, and Super Tablets will do everything, EVERYTHING, Laptops do.
The Thin iPad AIR, will lead to the iPad AIR PRO in 13" iteration NEXT YEAR, and
15" the year after, along with the 12" RETINA TOUCH SCREEN MBA. Apple wont be gone, but they may well be the ONLY one left:cool:
