Macs are usually used by creative types - it's what they know - and they also look very stylish, so it's no surprise that they are in the majority of movies as product placement.

I don't reckon Apple would charge anything - it's bloody good publicity having a Mac in a movie.... and normally there'a a really good close-up of the Apple logo.

Macs are generally also used in advertisments. What's funny there is that they usually superimpose a screenshot of Windows or Mac OS 9 onto an up-to-date iMac or MacBook Pro (even before Bootcamp, etc were available).

Apple pays the movie maker big amounts of money to get their laptops featured. This helps fund films which are stupidly expensive and Apple gets great advertising.

It's the same with Coke Cola, Sony, chocolate brands and it used to be cigarettes too until laws recently band it.
 
Well Apple wouldn't have paid Pixar for Wall-E, although Steve might pay himself to use his own computers etc.
