Ok. Now I really need to know the cost of an OOW screen repair. If you HAVE AC+ and you shatter your screen, you're out $229 minimum.

I've only gotten AC+ on one phone, my 6, but at this price, unless a screen repair is $200, I don't think I'd bother. Even if it's $160, that's two screen repairs for the same price as with AC+.

I have been working with screen repair companies for iphones since the 3gs's. NO screen can compare to the OEM you'll get with apple. Aftermarkets shatter easier, have yellow tints, and loose glue. Even so, i upgrade yearly, so i dont get AC because apple fixes the screen anyway for $109. no brainer for me.

How long do you have to buy the plan? Do I have to get it when I get the 6s+, or can I buy it down the road?

What? No. You have TWO incident claims when you buy AppleCare+. The idea is you buy the warranty up-front at $129, and it covers two accidents.

It's also inevitable premiums will go higher because people have been abusing the insurance. I've said it numerous times in the past people making spurious claims will hurt everyone with the one-price-fits-all model. People who make claims (sometimes multiple claims in a year) should be paying more for AppleCare+.

What? No. You have warranty with no out of pocket cost for anything that would be considered outside of accidental damage. If you shatter the screen, you are charged a fee and you can only use this service twice.

I've purchased AC+ on all iPhones that I've purchased and unfortunately have had to use it a few times.

Now what I've had a few people do is say that there was a "non related" issue with my phone to circumvent the service fee, but that was a YMMV scenario.

Of which you have to pay 99 dollars for every time you file an incident claim.

129 up front, 99 for each incident claim. Check the website, man.

I know how it works, but worded it poorly. The post I was referencing insinuated that you're out the $129 after you shatter your screen once, which is not true. It would cover another incident. Of course you have to pay for the incidents BUT you aren't necessarily out a total of $229 after your first incident.

I know what you were referencing. When you add up the total money spent (which is what the user you replied to was doing) the price for apple care replacement is 229 minimum. That's a fact. Paying 99 when you shatter your screen doesn't negate the 129 you've already paid towards the service. That's what the previous user was saying.

You brought up a good point. This may just make people not get AC+ if the OOW repair is cheaper for a broken screen. If it cost $149 to fix a damaged screen I would not get AC+.

So right now OOW screen damage is $109 for a iPhone 6. http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/screen-damage/ They haven't updated the 6S numbers yet.

A full OOW replacement is currently $299 for a 6 and $329 for a 6+ http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/repair/other/

I assume these numbers will be going up, it will be interesting to see to what level.

Yeah, but it would have to go up to nearly $200 before I considered AC+ worth it. Imagine if it is $150. Someone at Apple's risk management department needs to be fired.

You guys are focused on the screen; what if I drop it in the pool, then the cost of AC+ will look really good
