Yeah, I'm investigating alternatives. AdMob, AdWhirl, ChartBoost, and AdColony are a few.

Just to clarify: AdWhirl is not an ad-service, but simply an ad-mediation-layer. You still need to set up the ad-services you wish to use (from among their supports options).

Android != iOS. Android apps continue to run in the background. iOS apps are suspended and 'frozen' in the background, with the exception of GPS access and audio playback. While in the background you can't request more ads, like what happens on Android.

I understand the battery/bandwidth problem is more serious on the Android platform because apps are allowed to run in the background. This is an area where iOS is much better than Android for the end user.

When you ARE using an App on iOS, an ad supported app will still chew up more bandwidth/battery than an App without ads.

Really!?!?

Wirelessly posted

Can't stand ads on the internet and on mobile Devices. Never click unless by accident. Be happy to see no adds.

Could you imagine an internet/mobile/TV/Event/etc. platform where advertisers were not paying the bill? If there were no such thing as ads on mobile devices or the internet the consumer would have to pay to use everything and it would bring the development and technological advancements to a standstill. Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Myspace, the list is indefinite of products that are free to the user because of advertisements paying the bill. Could you imagine how expensive TV would be? Or the cost of a ticket to a ballgame? Basically everything we do in this world for entertainment would be outrageously overpriced and start up business in this space would come to a halt.
