I dont really understand why there is a global cellular data cap anyway. Its only protecting stupid users.

If people are that bothered have a limit in options to prevent downloads over a certain amount and have it activated by default. The unlimited users can just switch it off, the people who can't trust themselves can set it to 20mb. I dont see the need for it to be a global iOS limitation.

This is the only reason I want my jailbreak on iOS7 - so I can make all apps think i'm on wifi all the time

is there a way to set the size limit. I'd rather be able to set the limit to a lower number.

I have WiFi most places but don't want to DL that much and nice to have a pop up saying it is over 20MB, or 50MB

(sure, that's probably an Android type thing to do)

This would definitely be a nice addition.

there shouldn't be any download caps at all or it should be an option to adjust

50MB, 100MB, 250MB, 500MB, no limit

for unlimited LTE users like myself, it would be no limit.

Just curious? How DO you get this "unlimited data plan" with AT&T? I don't think they offer an unlimited data plan if I wanted to sign up and pay for it today.

Allow purchase of app even though download may not work!

I was in India without a fast data access. I wanted to buy an app on sale for free (free for a day or so). I could not because it required Wifi. Wifi is hard to come by in India (for free). I wish I could at least purchase the app and get the sale price and then download it later!

I would say that Apple is being generous here, but the new 32/64-bit universal binaries are doubling app binary sizes, so this really just about supporting 64-bit binaries.

I wonder if the carriers had any hand in this. Enabling automatic 100MB downloads in the background? Could run up a pretty nice bill...

Sorry, meant to say since the 3GS/4 years:)

64GB debuted on the 4S...so yeah, two years since they upped the storage.

It used to be that Apple said they were limited on the iPhone due to a single memory location available in the iPhone, whereas the iPad has two.

So the 128GB iPad can fit 2x64GB and the iPhone 1x64GB.

Hopefully a larger screen iPhone(iPhone 6 perhaps) will have the room.

I wonder if this is because someone at AT&T couldn't install some silly 51mb app over the air. :D

That doesn't matter, it still cost you $200 more than base on the 4S, I was saying the base configurations scheme has not being upped since the 3GS. Meaning FIVE generations later I still have to pay an extra $100 for just 16GB more, when 32 should be the base in 2013 especially w/ 64 bit and way bigger app sizes than 4 years ago where we didn't even have retina displays.

Does this also include podcasts? It would be great if the podcast limit was also extended to 100 MB.

You already can see how big an app is before you download it, so that's kind of unnecessary.

100 MB apps? I'd rather wait for wifi where the speed is usually faster anyway.

This is how it works in ios 7! It's a great feature.

I would think is was to help inadvertently using up your monthly data plan without being aware of it.

Yeah I can see how that would be helpful but just a warning each time would do the same thing. Then let me decide if I still want to download the app. That's the way Android does it and I can easily stay under my cap. It doesn't seem like a carrier restriction since Android phones don't have it. Seems like an odd thing for Apple to care about.

Nice that Apple is concerned about how much I use from my data plan. This attitude really hurts carriers and benefits consumers.
