[If this is even true] Apple is cutting production on the lower margin product to make more of the higher margin product. Clearly a huge failure.

Yep, short term financial gain at the cost of ever decreasing marketshare. Apple handed the PC market to Microsoft in the 90s, and they are taking major strides in handing the mobile OS to android now.

But yes, let's cheer about this development.
