I'm eligible! That explains why my battery performance has been abysmal of late. I assumed it was the iOS 8 beta and didn't think more about it.

Quick question: Will I need to have iOS 7 before I get my appointment?

Yeah they won't service it with pre-release software on. They do let you downgrade in store if you really need to, but better just to go in running iOS 7

Mine is eligible for both this and the sleep button program.

I wonder what the testing standard will be for the battery replacement? Will they judge based on cycle count, or remaining capacity?

My battery life is decent, though not great, especially if GPS is in use.

My sleep button doesn't exhibit any symptoms, so I haven't tried to make use of that program yet, though I will before it expires.

My iPhone 5 is eligible for both the battery replacement & the sleep/wake button issue. I had to suffer for almost 2 years with both of these problems...

...but a new free iPhone 6 would make up for the troubles.

Just paid out of pocket to have my battery replaced a week and a half ago, so when I entered my serial number it said:

The serial number you entered is not eligible under this program because either:
- It's not one of the serial numbers in the affected range
- Our records show that your battery has already been replaced. If you paid for a battery replacement service, check with Apple to see if you are eligible for a refund.

I called support, and a few minutes later the refund is on the way.

I knew I wasn't crazy, my phone battery runs out super fast and its on the list.

Glad you're getting a refund.

I wondered the same thing, last time I went with a beta, they were like we can't touch it. So I'm gonna put 7 back on it.

Not eligible. Must be early January models. Oh well, I only had problems with iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1. Before and after those it's been fine battery-wise. I can run below 10% if I'm not near a charger. I usually go all day without having to charge.

I am eligible for the sleep/wake button issue, but I haven't had a problem.

Really I don't understand what all the complaints with the 5 are about. Other than a few software issues that were corrected in a subsequent update, I've had no problems with my 5 from January 2013. Verizon 16gb silver/white.

i got the same message which is odd cuz i never got my battery replaced. i got a replacement due to the sleep wake button early last year. maybe my refurbished replacement had an battery issue before and theres a mix up?

well DUH! there is a problem with the iPhone 5 obviously ... apple doesnt initiate a replacement program for fun

How can there be battery problems - people responding to the Samsung Wall Pluggers ad said that Samsung was wrong, dead wrong - iPhones have the best batteries in the business.

This is too funny.

You do realize the two are in no way the same? Not to mention this doesn't affect the 5s at all….

I also have exactly this problem with my iPhone 5. I used the built-in camera for some photos and my phone suddenly displayed the low battery image and powered off. It would not turn back on until I plugged in the charger or portable battery pack, when the battery percentage immediately showed 30% to 50% again. Faulty battery? Should replace new battery? Free to charge?

what a load of horse sh&^$%@&@^#($()

my iPhone 5 had to be completely replaced, out of warranty, due to the battery issue, overheating, AND those annoying black fuzzy dots that appear in photos. i had to pay $269 out of pocket for a brown box refurb replacement

how would i even go about getting compensated for this when i don't have any documentation that says anything except a receipt showing i purchased the $269 refurb.

if anyone has any good advice i would truly and honestly appreciate it. the iPhone 5 has been the one and only Apple product that has been an epic disaster for me and quite a disappointment. IMO, the iPhone 5 was the worst iPhone built in terms of quality and reliability

iPhone 5 and I did not get along. I went through 2 for faulty batteries (my original iPhone 5 is part of this). But then I went through 2 in 24 hours after I received a faulty one from AppleCare and another from the store. Apple decided to just send me a brand new 5s no questions asked.

Waiting for the iPhone 6.

What will be the trade-in value of an iPhone 5 that needs both the battery and sleep/wake replaced under recall?

Will Apple give me extra upfront so I don't have it repaired?

apple shouldn't have spent all of that time and effort on a diamond cut chamfer, and instead focused on battery quality, camera sealed components quality, and more durable anodizing processes. the navy blue anodized coating scratches off from just debris in your pocket. epic fail

the iPhone 5, despite being a great seller, was truly the worst iPhone in terms of product quality.

i am very much looking forward to the iPhone 6, especially if it indeed will have rounded corners lol
