I guess EU users will not be served with less features then other markets … but be served with features that have matured in all ways and some. Escaping the endless pages of hyper hype and beta testing.

I’m on iPhone 13 Max … I guess my plan of updating only to the iPhone 17 Max is working out well.

Thank you Apple :no sarcasm: Common sense still counts.

Now that iPhone Mirror on MacOS …

So, on the mac I'll be able to use apple intelligence in the EU, but not for the iPhone?

After all these years, Siri still can’t speak Polish, so Apple Intelligence will be available in some EU countries only.

True, no Poland in the Siri list 🙁

I guess that page will be updated with Apple Intelligence region/language limitations at some point. Apple has made a lot of noise about EU legislation, but many other services too have limited availability, so this is not a new situation.

No hearing test either in UK or EU. Such a disappointment and such a muddle. Is this the future? Missing features outside the US?

It's worked on my UK iPhone 16 Pro since the day I got it.

I’m not sure why all the moaning about this. The EU wanted to give Apple a hard time about everything, and when Apple pushes back, they are surprised? Incredible

A "hard time"?

As in ... please follow the rules of our jurisdiction if you'd like to do business here?

That's what we call a "hard time" .. being asked to obey their rules and regulations?

Is Apple Intelligence any better than Siri?
That has to be proven 1st If I will turn it on.
I assume it will take some time.
First I expect to hear how Siri will mess it up for people.....

I’d argue they’re crafting their rules and regulations to specifically attack Apple’s preferred business model and their ability to differentiate through integration. Totally in their right to do that, but they’re definitely giving Apple a hard time.

EU has 24 official languages. Apple Intelligence will probably never fully support all of them. Here in Finland we never got even the basic predictive text input that english input system has had many many years. So all this AI buzz and “EU this and that” is kind of tiring.
I believe that LLMs do make working with other languages easier than older AI did. It might be easier to add Finnish support that to add it in Siri or even the predictive text feature that was an AI spike using a small transformer model .

How does one disable Apple Intelligence from macOS? Will a 16GB system covert back to an 8GB system if you do that?
AI is turned off by default. There is a radio button to turn it on or off. AI does not use the whole 8GB that is just the minimum system requirement to run AI and whatever apps you are running. I’ve seen some measurements that suggest that AI uses about 3GB. The memory is not permanently allocated. It is a shared pool.

Good for all the users from EU. Was thinking that it might launch only much later.

What do you mean? I have the hearing test working here in Portugal
They excluded certain European countries such as France and UK but you and Germany get it! I assume it must be medical authorities linked to the nature of the hearing test.

What are they supposed to do exactly? Develop AI features internally and just publicly release them without beta testing? You can also just disable Apple Intelligence. I swear some people on this forum just can't be satisfied with anything
Fear not that there’s still calibrated people around that just don't run to comment and lash out impatiently (sometimes without even having read the article) trying to farm some attention that will achieve ultimately nothing for their day.

Some people still write and react like they would in a normal face to face conversation, however, MacRumors has tuned at times their writing craft to tingle the usual suspects, so they flare up constantly on many articles.

Most just can’t be bothered, including trying to reply to steer back to a reasonable tone, as being perpetually unsatisfied and in misery is ultimately tiring and a waste even when just reading.

Trust you me, most just don’t care and buy/activate what they want and need, using the products as designed for what was intended. Not giving neither a like or dislike or any sort of attention to these narcissistic behaviors screaming for online attention.

Enjoy your Mac with or without Apple Intelligence according to your needs. Myself I’ll give it an honest try at it!
Cheers.

The hearing test and hearing aid features are in the EU. What they said was that the hearing protection feature (reducing loud noises) are US and Canada only, but I have it here in Denmark running iOS in Danish.
