A point that was noted on the MacBook Air forum is that there's a few different display models floating around. This must affect one of those in particular. Mine is problem free, worked all afternoon yesterday writing a XML parser in Xcode with both an external monitor and the internal monitor working and never even had a glitch.
 
This is getting ridiculous. Apple does owe their customers a solution but they don't owe their customers the rights to internal support docs. Who do people think they are to expose a company's private documents on the web that they shouldn't have access to? This is getting annoying. These people need to be arrested. :mad:

Wow, okay, here's what I don't get... Why does everyone keep saying "finally" like it's been some huge long wait??

1) The MBA JUST came out.
2) Most, if not all, are still in the return period... SO EXCHANGE THEM!
3) That's a pretty fast turn around for establishing a pattern among returns, if you ask me.

4) The issue seems very limited as very few people have come forward with the problem. Most of us Air owners are happy as can be and don't have any issues with the display.

Relax. Arrested??

In all likelihood this could be a deliberate leak. The online Apple hate-machine was getting into full stride over this and this will help quell the dissatisfaction until the software arrives.

The thing is, I'm sure these internal memos on new issues circulate all the time inside Apple tech support, but the rest of us normally never get to see them. That causes HUGE amount of ill will and stress when users find and report problems and then hear nothing back for months. Everyone starts speculating that Apple might be ignoring them, or isn't taking the problem seriously, or questions whether it's a hardware or a software problem. Just a nasty situation, all around.

I know Apple loves their secrecy, but this is one area where I think it doesn't benefit them at all. I know they may not want to share all of this with the "average user" who is completely non-technical anyway? But I'd *love* to see this sort of thing leak out to the Mac tech. sites at the very least, whenever these sorts of memos come up!

I have given up on that a looooong time ago.. Unfortunately my 24" iMac (late 2006) has been gathering dust because of that fault. It's impossible to keep the computer running for more than 10 minutes without having kernel panics due to the GPU overheating (even with SMCFan running the fans at max speed).

Definitely a lousy experience with my first (and last) iMac. I wish Apple had acknowledged the issue.

Your point would be more valid had the Macbook Air been out for months so far with these issues and we've heard nothing from Apple but the Air hasn't even been out 30 days so people need to chill out about feeling ignored. No company is going to respond publicly in under 30 days about an issue unless the issue is affecting everyone.
 
Bruce: I just assumed he was talking about Gatorade ;)

Glad to hear it's a software issue and not hardware. Depending on how many nickels I have to rub together around Christmas I might have to buy myself an entirely unnecessary present.
 
How do we know these 'leaked' screenshots are real?

Reminds me of the photos of brown boxes containing unannounced products. Often in an elevator for added credibility! :)
 
Like I said in the first article about this. This problem affects a small percentage of users and a fix would be soon.
