What a ridiculous price for what it offers. Guess Apple wants to make sure they never even come close to gaining ground on MS in computer sales.

Microsoft doesn't sell personal computers. They sell OS licenses to companies that make and sell computers.

And those companies that make and sell Windows OS computers continue to see their sales shrink quarter after quarter, year after year.

The iMac is the best selling desktop PC line of any computer manufacturer and the MacBook Pro is the best selling portable PC line of any computer manufacturer.

Yes, the aggregate sales of HP, Dell, Acer, Asus, Lenovo (and everyone else who sells a PC with the Windows OS installed on it) combined are orders of magnitude more than how many Macs Apple sells, but Apple makes more money on the Macs they sell then all those Windows PC makers do combined.

So yes, Apple doesn't care about Windows PC manufacturers.

So what are the alternatives with the same level of display, build quality, size, weight, touch pad&keyboard, etcetera that cost much cheaper?

I'm kind of disappointed too actually. They should've left the word "Pro" after MacBook.

Can anyone tell me what's "Pro" about a computer that comes standard with a 128GB SSD, no dedicated graphics, that is not user upgradable and way overpriced?

I don't like the way Apple is going lately. I've the feeling that they're slowly making OS X into a closed iOS like system (looking to features like Gatekeeper, Launchpad etc.)

Mark my words: In 2 years from now, the whole Apple Notebook line consists of non-userupgradable machines like the retina MacBook Pro's and the Air's.

Well he wasn't wrong...
