You're kidding right ?

The fact is that Apple measures the battery life considering 4 topics :
- 3G Talk Time
- 3G Internet Use
- Video
- Music

The 4S is ONLY 1 hour better in "3G Talk Time". That's nothing. At all.

In fact, it's far more accurate to say that they've kept the same battery life than to say they've improved it.

I don't get all the bitching

The only thing Apple didn't do was increase the screen size. Everything else about this phone puts it at the head of the smart phone class...way ahead.
 
Meh... this is the new Apple without Steve Jobs. We better get used to boring releases with stupid names like "4S", stagnant stock prices, and... "Cards". Remember 1994? Here we go again.

Yeah, but you shouldn't try to catch a falling knife and the same holds true for AAPL right now.
 
What the hell does 'faster graphics' even mean? Will my birds be flying faster through the air? Will the refresh rate be 7 times more frames per sec? Or what?

hopefully Siri can make an appointment for me to sell my apple stock asap!

Works for me

I for one like the current design, nor want a bigger screen, I have an iPad for that.
Everything else sounds pretty cool. Sure it's not HUGE upgrade, but I like the new speeds and especially the camera.
I have never been into voice recognition, though I used it on and old phone years ago to make calls. I hope Siri is cool, but until I try it I can't say anything. If it works well then awesome, if not then I just want use it. I have an upgrade coming that's works out for me so I'm happy, plus at last I won't need to wait in line since my contract is up a month after it's release, so I also get to hear the feedback.

They probably focused grouped it and found that the majority of their target market doesn't care about the increase form 3.5" to 4".

Apples biggest success is understand what its customers want and giving that to them. They have to spend a **** ton of money on market research.

I don't doubt that Apple has been exploring larger screen and simply found little to no demand in their target demographic.

Because these are the same people that have been TOTALLY SURE and Betting their Houses on a IPHONE 5 and a total redesign that was never a fact, only a rumor!! These are the same people that have been rude and condescending to the rest of us when we didn't think there was a Redesign coming and that there was NO IPhone 5.

apple never ever listen to theirs hardcore fans comment their arrogant won't go far ......as i post an earlier comment here....totally not a evolution, as for us design is most important as they did for their first iPhone.... simplified it.... 3.5 screen totally not acceptable in this current time, when iPhone 4s can't sell or meet demand... d pointing finger story is up again.....hahaha waste money invest in apple cos they think pc market same as iPhone well is not. iPhone is actually a fashion design stuff must start refresh it design in order to success

Crap. Won't be upgrading to that. Samsung just got a new customer.

I really didn't like the feel of the iphone 4. Been holding onto the 3gs waiting to see if the redesign comes along, I won't be buying this. Gonna try the samsung (I find iOS rather disappointing as well)
 
Apple hurt me the most today...

I had scheduled a hot air balloon ride today for my girlfriend and myself. Last night I called and it was cancelled for this morning due to weather (even though there is no high winds or impending storms... anyways...). So I'm bummed out. I was gonna propose today.

I tried to reschedule but everything is booked for the rest of the season and I can't get another ride until Spring 2012. Gonna have to find another way to do it.

SO, after all this, what is the coincidence Apple has plastered hot air balloon pictures and video all over their ****ING SITE just reminding me of what I didn't get to experience and enjoy today.

Apple... you make me hurt... :(

(I'm not actually upset with Apple. It's just a very weird coincidence)

As far as I know the only smartphone with a higher resolution than the iPhone 4/4s is the samsung galaxy hd which has a 4.6 inch screen. That's huge and cannot be easy to fit into a pocket.
Do you want apple to give you a half inch bump with the same 960x640 res, thus making the display less crisp? Or bump the res making all the app need to be rebuilt?

What smartphone display is clearly better then the iPhone right now. Not just BIGGER.
 
Look on the bright side people, Apple's Mac Pro refresh is just around the corner and is rumored to have the all new PowerPC G3 chip and will, get this, sport VGA graphics!!! Also, the all new Apple CRT tube television is rumored to be in final rounds of testing and expecting certification by the FCC!!!
 
Original iPhone and then 3GS owner. My 3gs has served me well but the volume and off buttons no longer work. Wanted a bigger screen and 4g. I knew 4g wasn't likely but was expecting a larger screen (even if the shell was the same size). I don't really care about battery life given my routine.

I've been holding out for this announcement but the phone obviously isn't for me. Assistant is impressive but I doubt I'd use it at all.

The only good thing about waiting so long for this announcement is the nexus prime announcement is next week.

I have no doubt apple will sell a lot of these but I don't see anything in the device that will increase the rate of adoption from its current (very good of course) trajectory. 6 months from now this phone could be very dated though.

interesting times... at least we have choices.
 
I will say it again better to have my jailbroken phone which is on about the IPhone 10 platform. Will outdo the 4gs anyday. I already speak text and so on

I can come up with something...a larger screen. My eyes simply cannot tolerate such a small screen. Which is one of two reasons I ended up getting an Android (the other reason being price...I can't get an iPhone plan for the $25 a month I pay for my phone now.) I'd love for both those situations to be resolved but until they are, I'll probably be in the Android side for my phone needs while still enjoying my Mac and iPad for computing and gaming.

The world phone feature though is nice. I think that is the best thing about this update.

Keep in mind you saw that in a controlled environment on a stage. This is nice, but it won't be perfect in real world conditions when it misunderstands you or your network drops out or whatever.

Do we know if AT&T will allow current customers to upgrade a bit earlier than usual? I'm not eligible for an upgrade until November but would like to get the $199 price.
