All the display imacs had a magic mouse and wireless keyboard, they just did not have any stock of the mouse, within a week when I asked.

I agree that £55 is a bit expensive but I liked it enough to want one.

I might get one when/if they bring out a USB version, last time I had a cordless 'Mighty Mouse' I would keep forgetting to turn it off underneath, I think I must have spent just as much on disposable batteries, as I did on the mouse...

Drivers Magic Mouse

Does anyone have already the drivers (Apple Wireless Mouse Software) or can tell how can I extract them from my 27" IMAC? I won't use the Magic Mouse with my IMAC because it doesn't work on glass. But I'd like to use it with my MBP.
Thanks

Hi,

Did any of you receive the Magic Mouse yet? I ordered it last week but the status of my order hasn't changed as of yet.
Thanks.

It turns off automaticly when not in use. I use mine quite a bit and only have to change batteries every 4 to 5 months. Are you using cheap batteries???

when they finally put out the snow leopard update i am buying on for my macbook. i just hope they will continue to ad gestures like expose with 3 finger or pinch to zoom.

Fedex truck just pulled up and I got excited since Fedex always delivers my apple stuff. I was disappointed that it was just a letter and no magic mouse.

I also ordered day one....come on APPLE!!!!

Care to explain rather than just whine?

Didn't think it needed explanation, but ok. Ever since the introduction of the iMac, Apple's mice and keyboards have been mostly pretty bad. I'm not an Apple hater in any way, and it pains me to admit it but it's true. Some people have been around long enough to remember when Apple made high quality mice (granted, there was the one button thing but they were ergonomic at least) and excellent keyboards, which makes it even worse. Especially because it is so opposite from the software side of things; they should know better.

The Mighty Mouse was not good, I bought one when they came out and used it for a few days and gave it away. Having to raise your left finger to right click was a tragic design flaw and a deal breaker. The new chicklet keyboard (from my top of the line 2009 Mac Pro) is absolutely terrible, suffering on one as we speak. I could go on...:(

I use one, never had a problem with it apart from the scroller stopping working (I think it got dirty, managed to fix it with tips from these forums), and my last Mighty Mouse's right click stopped working, some of them were being registered as left clicks. I never even knew my left finger automatically lifted off when I right click until I read a few days the magic mouse requires your left finger to be up when you right click :D

What's the chicklet keyboard? I use the very thin wired apple keyboard with numeric keypad, I love it.

EDIT: also meant to say, that the mouse is not the greatest but I like it :p

I seem to naturally lift my left finger off when I right click… I guess it's just easier that way. I don't feel any discomfort in doing so either. How ergonomic do you need a mouse? The Magic Mouse is really thin… meaning you don't really rest your entire hand on it… you just slide it with 2 fingers and use the rest for clicking and scrolling. It's very comfortable. I think it's worse when you grip the mouse with your palm anyways. Actually… now that I think of it… I don't even grip my Mighty Mouse… I basically just guide it with 2 fingers (pointer and ring fingers).

Orchestral touch

I don't want to upset you mouse-hugging types, but I'm probably not alone in this: I've been using PowerBooks and MacBooks for over fifteen years now and can't really see the point of a mouse.

Surely, Apple would have been better dispensing with the old house-brick pointing device altogether and gone for a sleek oversized trackpad that could grace the work-surface of any proud desktop Mac owner. Imagine the delight of those elegant sweeping gestures, performing like some crazy conductor of a Macintosh orchestra. :)

My partner, who is a relative technophobe and has no idea what is going on in the computer industry, came up to me while I was looking at the Magic Mouse webpage the other day.

He took one look at the mouse and said 'Why don't they just release a trackpad like I have on my MacBook?'

Now if he can see that why can't Apple?

Off topic, but last time Fedex came i was a happy camper too.
College sent me my Adobe Creative Suite cs4 Design Premium : )

Some people have trouble moving their fingers independently without extra effort, so for those people yeah no problem, their fingers move together anyway. For the rest of us it ranges from an annoyance to unusable.

Then buy a different mouse? I've never seen someone who can't move their fingers separately.... and if you can't, then you obviously need a different mouse for your right-click needs. I'm betting the majority of people can move their fingers separately just fine.

+2

It's biggest fail hit me right away when they said "simply hold down the control key and...? I said WHAT and REALLY? where the heck is the pinch and expand gesture to zoom??
Is it really that much harder to press control and scroll in order to zoom? BTW, this feature has ben in Mac OS X for several years. They may have kept it this way (via control or other modifier key) to keep the shortcut consistent. And being one who uses the zoom feature several times everyday, this method is much more effective than pinching.

FeDex just delivered mine...

So far, it's a great mouse and a nice upgrade from the Mighty Mouse I had before.

just got back from the apple store and didn't seem to be worth the price. If it was self rechargeable i'd consider it, maybe i'll grab it later from the refurb store or buy it used.

I got my Magic Mouse from the store today and it seems like the top shell (especially the part near the Apple logo) isn't really secured well, like when I put a tiny bit of pressure on the mouse (not enough for it to click down), the shell feels a bit loose...? Anyone has this problem too? Think I should go get a new mouse?

Feels pretty solid to me. The Shell is glued on I think; maybe you got a mouse with less glue?
