That is the coolest mouse I've ever seen. And the name is awesome. Only one problem. NO BLUETOOTH VERSION :(. I Don't know why they wouldn't make one, it being so cool.
They are not releasing one right now because it's called Product Marketing. Release the basic features first at a certain price point, release an improved product later at a higher price point while dropping the first price point a little bit. Maximizing sales.

touch sensors are really thin. IIRC, it's just a capacitor in a wafer that sets off electricity according to the pressure applied. (don't stone me if i'm wrong)

Ever take apart a laptop touchpad? the sensor is very thin.

There could be plenty of room for BT.

my guess is that the power requirements weren't up to spec and that they wanted to spent a bit more time on it to do it right; as in a rechargeable dock.

I might get a wired one and a BT one when it comes out. We'll see. I can wait until school starts up again.

You're right, I'm sure they'll make a BT Mighty Mouse eventually. But also, don't forget the trackball.

read at the bottom on the Might Mouse page:

Mighty Mouse © Viacom International Inc. All Rights Reserved.

i'm sure they got their permission before using the name, they're not stupid.

I would have thought Mighty Mouse would be public domain by now, but I guess not yet.

By the way, this mouse only has one button (besides the squeeze buttons and the scroll ball click). Apple is too cocky to make a "two-button mouse."

I'll stick to the Pro Mouse, since it can be pushed squarely in the middle. Also it's better for when you have left-handed people around.

Wrong again. Any number of animals could "hear" that sound. It does not require a human ear to convert it into sound. :p

What do you mean "wrong again"? That was my first comment! Plus, I'm never wrong. :p ;)

Alright, I should have been more specific, that you need some type of decoding device present (i.e. an ear) human or otherwise.

Now, back on topic... ;)

You can program the Mighty Mouse so that it acts just like a standard one-button mouse (with scroll ball) if you like. Of course, at this point, there's no reason to upgrade for you, but I'm figuring that they'll begin bundling this mouse with new Mac desktops.

I'm sort of betting that when they release new PowerBooks, they'll have the same kind of thing on the trackpad. Make it look like a one button trackpad, but put the touch sensors in the button so that you can right click.

Anybody live in SF? I am curious to know if there are some left in the Apple stores? Even if it is not bluetooth I want it. But you haven't convinced me #922. I will buy the BT version as well.
I don't think it's even in the stores yet, just online.

Posted by my friend Juan,

I just switched from PCs to Mac, this one being my 1st Mac ever.
At first, I started using a 2-buttoned mouse I had extra, but I decided to try the Apple mouse it came with my iMac and I fell in love with it. One of the things I do miss is my scroll wheel and front/back buttons.

Now with the introduction of this new mouse I think that Apple has made a nice move. A lot of switchers and hardcore Mac users most of the times went with a 3rd party 2-button mouse.
Well, no more. I want one :)

I wonder if and how soon this will replace the standard mouse apple includes with their computers. Or if this will just be an option for a long time.

screw mouses, i want a retina scan that follows my eye movements around the screen. My fingers would never have to leave the keyboard, ever. 1 blink=single click, 2 blinks=double click. Blink one eye and "scroll" with the other to highlight text etc. In a perfect world....inside my head, literally.

I'm gonna be strong.....wait for bluetooth...wait for bluetooth....
*reaches for credit card* NO! Be Strong! Wait for bluetooth.......Here, play with this box. *Forgets about Mighty Mouse for the time being*

Using the Mighty

This thing is great!
For all of those who are still wondering, it still really clicks. Just like the pro mouse. Pushes down and everything. The sensors under the hood just tell it which finger is doing the pushing so that it knows whether to left or right click. The scroll ball also works amazingly well, givving the user a lot of tactile feedback when scrolling. BT or not, it's an incredible job done by the Apple engineers to keep, yet not keep, the one-button design.

C out.

Apple will need to beta test this new Mighty Mouse on the rabid mac fanatics before they are sure it's ready and release it as standard accessory on new Macs. Also, they want to gouge as much profit as they can before there is a public outcry.

They actually don't know. It'll show up when it shows up, they don't tell store managers or employees when.

Yes it is in Apple Stores already - many other people throughout this thread have already commented on how they've either seen them, bought them, or been told the Stores are sold out of them!

What happens if you get something in your eye? :p Plus, this would alienate the vast population of Mac Users which have glass eyes, and I don't think Apple would want to tick those guys off! ;)
