I've tried every which way. There is no diagnol scrolling. It goes from horizontal to vertical vice versa.

This is incorrect; I have been diagonally scrolling in Tiger. You just need to get a feel for the scroll nipple. You have to be quite exact with your direction.

*I think im in love with my Mighty Mouse; it's quite a sensual peripheral ... :p

I still say there is no diagnol scrolling. But that's besides the point because i don't do much diagnol scrolling anyways.

I did find this little Cocoa app that will certainly prove very useful:

http://www.bitart.com/CocoaGestures.html

Assign gestures to any command in a Cocoa application.
Now my mighty mouse is truly Mighty.

Yes, mouse gestures are very nice ... i wish they were in the OS.

I find it easier to scroll diagonally to the left than to the right. i think it's because my index finger slightly twists to the right; it's much easier with my middle finger. :) it does take some practice.

I just got my Mighty Mouse today, and so far I would have to say I do like it a lot. $50 is definetly on the high end, and it's hard to justify, but I just really like it. The only thing that takes some getting used to is the whole left/right click thing.

I got my Mighty Mouse today, as well. I absolutely love it. In my opinion, it's the coolest mouse EVER! :) The scroll thing (not really sure what to call it) feels better than any scroll wheel I've ever used. Since I lift up my left finger when I right click, this mouse feels really natural to me. I love it.

Yeah so many years without a right click button that i find myself still using Control Click at times.

It's a different type of conditioning I suppose - long time Mac users have been conditioned to use ctrl-click, long time PC users have been conditioned to right-click.

Mighty Mouse is fantastic. I would have given it 8/10, on the first day I received it (Monday). However, after a week, I'd give it 10/10. It just takes a few days to get fully comfortable with something like a mouse. I'm constantly bringing up dashboard and expose.

Yes, there always is a "learning curve" of sorts when dealing with new devices like this. I think people have to give it a chance before they rush to judgment. Glad to hear you're enjoying your Mighty Mouse!

It might be useful for me. I've had to disable Exposé and Dashboard hotkeys F9 through F12 because it mucks with my FCP keyboard commands.

I've become accustomed to cmd-F9, cmd-F10 and so on since Panther.

I've stayed up late tonite to play with the new toy I got this evening. Yes, a Mighty Mouse.

I'm not going to pass final judgement until I've gotten used to it, so these are just first impressions. The right and left click action is good. Scrolling is nice. I find the side buttons a little awkward to click; it takes a little more pressure than I'd expect. I've accidentally clicked the mouseball button a few times (my fingers need to learn to be lighter). And it's too bad that I can't set separate vertical and horizontal scrolling speeds; my preferences differ in the two directions.

Damn, I'd really want to get the Mighty Mouse, but I already have two mice.

Oh well, I'll get the BT version if/when it comes out.

My wife really likes the scrolling feature. She was interested in the right click and saving her trackpad on the PowerBook. Maybe Apple will fulfill your request in the next software update.

I too would like to see independent controls ... the horz. scroll could use a speed boost IMO.

That and adding keystrokes (per application; like my Wacom tablet) to the buttons would be nice.

USB Overdrive, which allows application-specific button programming, will be adding full support for the MM. So help is on the way.

For the first time in my entire Mac life (since 1985), I've opted for a non-Apple mouse. After test-driving the MM at the local Apple Store last week, I decided instead on a LogiTech MX1000 USB cordless for $41.00 ($61 @ Amazon with free shipping minus a $20 LogiTech rebate).

Had Apple released a wireless MM, I probably would have jumped. But the cord and the awkward side-"button" thing made the MX1000 irresistable. USB Overdrive works perfectly with the LogiTech, allowing unique sets of button actions for every application. The left side thumb buttons work great for back-forward browsing. The up-down scroll-wheel actually sits on a button that does left-right scrolling as well.

I just wish Apple had done it better. They could have.

Good to know ...

i had a a Logitech 500MX, and although i liked it; it aided to my carpel tunnel. :\ The egonomic mice are so freakin' sloped it kills my trigger finger. Hand toggles (ala Mac mice) are much easier on the tendons.

still enjoying my MM.

I'm sure the Bluetooth version will conveniently come out as soon as sales slow down for the wired version. That way people who already bought the wired version might switch and buy the wireless one and therefore send Apple more money. It's brilliant.

Today's Foxtrot comic, by Bill Amend. I wonder what percentage of comic readers will actually get the joke?

Not briliant - just Marketing 101.

F&@#$*@)#$! Apple

Okay. My Pro Mouse has just died, and I want to replace it. I discover that Apple will not sell me a Pro Mouse. (I actually like 1-button mouses.)

Here's the best part. The Pro Mouse still ships with the iMac (Apple wouldn't want to lose their margins by including a more expensive mouse). But the only option for a replacement mouse (or Mac mini add-on) is a bluetooth or Mighty Mouse (more $$$). Want a Mighty Mouse with your iMac? Spend an extra $50 and throw away your Pro Mouse. Want a replacement Apple mouse? Spend $50, whether you want the features of the Mighty Mouse or not. In other words: Want a mouse? Spend $50.

I realize that I can shop with a reseller (at least for the time being) and get one of the remainging Pro Mouses for $29, but this is really annoying!

EDIT: Here's the irony: from one day to the next, Apple has gone from telling me that I don't need a multi-button mouse to making me pay for one.
