what bothers me is my ultra 1 becomes laggy after latest OS - few seconds blank screen when opening and closing apps even changing apps

Good to see that Apple has acknowledged the issue. Hopefully it is fixed soon via an update.

They probably have a patent on this innovation. Just need to increase the frequency so flicker is not noticeable but just causes headaches.

Jesus H Christ. What is going on this year? Did they lose all their top software engineers? Overheating iPhones and Screen Retention are huge issues. Now, one of the headline features of the premium Apple watches should be turned off as a workaround? Simply unacceptable for a company of this caliber.
A lot of us think this has been going on at Apple for much longer than "this year". It used to be their hardware and software teams both seemed top notch... their hardware group still seems great, but Apple's software is increasingly problematic.

These issues are minor and not unique to this year.

Also, it's been known for months that the bulk of the engineers are focused on the Vision Pro software, much like in 2006-2007 when they were focused on iOS (which was why Leopard was delayed six months and Tiger got up to 10.4.11).
Yes but Tiger was ultra stable and Leopard was delayed, not rushed. That’s the key difference in my view..

Welcome to the new world, where launch dates are far more important than launching a good product.

The release now, deliver / patch later seems to be currently prevelant now in the tech world, be it video games, tech with features that arrive at a later date, or issues...

I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and I’m glad, for once, that I’m not having any of these problems. Typically problems like to find me!

I thought all Apple products with OLED flickered due to PWM? Is it possible this is related? Nothing worse than flickering.
Yes. All OLEDs flicker, more or less. Apple has been handling this issue way better than Samsung so it wasn't an issue back then. But we'll come to a point that all OLED's suck when they introduce better screens like, I dunno, Micro LEDs maybe?

Youre saying the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Ultra are NOT good products? Wow! Lol.

Let me guess…. It’s a software issue!

What a bunch of morons they have in the software department. I don’t understand why they don’t give a termination letter to the one in charge of software over there. They terminated Forstall over maps. Why can’t they terminate this one over the mess that the whole ecosystem turned out to be???
do you want them to fire craig?

The Apple ecosystem is amazing. Better than any other out there. What a joke.

Micro-LED uses PWM too.

Come on.... It is a story that has being going on for a decade, just issues over issues. I just tried to scan a document with continuity and it doesn't detect my phone, I scanned one half an hour ago and it was fine. It is a constant troubleshooting using an apple device for anything that is not scrolling through tiktok

It's funny how so many commenters are product experts with flawless developers. You guys should create a company like Apple and deliver multiple flawless OS platforms and beat Apple at their own game....

Seriously, though. Do you realise how ultra-complex these platforms are? It's impossible to create a bug-free platform, no matter how simple. There will always be a way to break it, find flaws and more. I appreciate some bugs are irritating, but the sheer audacity of some is hilariously pathetic.

Moreover, if you have ever worked in software development, you will know bugs are released on purpose as the cost of delaying the software release has a much greater impact on the users so developers are almost certainly aware of these bugs on release.

I've personally not seen these issues on my Ultra 2, so if it happens, c'est la vie. Just wait for a fix and stop being so grumpy!

Without this article, I would not know this flickering issue exists. Thank you for posting it. Hopefully, a fix will be made to address it soon. Keep calm and be happy 😊

That is not what I've said, not in the slightest. I'm sorry that you had not been able to understand me.
In that case. If you remember the iPhone release by Steve Jobs (we shall call it the Old World, when talking about Apple Products). The phone was barely stuck together. The Keynote was the first time everything actually worked, and it was partly faked. At worst, there is no difference. But considering the complexities they have now, they do a pretty amazing job getting rid of 99+% of the bugs. Perfection is never a realistic outcome, whilst it may still be the goal.

No issues with my ultra 2 yet just wondering if screen on all the time would get picture burn in like some computer monitors?
