Apple corrected this problem in iPhone 11 which is encouraging that they can do the same here
Let’s wait another week or two and see what happens
Quality Control at Foxconn leaves alot to be desired

Call Tech support and make them aware of the problem !!

I am having issues with my iPhone 12 display as well. On a lighter background, specifically white background, when the display dims to about 10%-20% there is a darker/blue tint along the notch part of the display and the upper right corner. It seems like the brighter the display gets the less you can see it. I took it into apple today and was told this is likely part of the issue apple is looking into.
so did Apple support mentioned that it is a software issue and wait for a patch or replaced a new iPhone for you?

Got my iPhone 12 Pro 2 days ago.
Significant flickering with video slow motion :(
It is happening when taking slo motion at home or outside. Planning to wait another couple of days. If there is no new software issue I will return it to the store.
My iPhone Xs or 6s do not have this issue.

Yeah, have the same problem.
You can see it best in dark room when powering off the phone and it supposed to be true black screen.
Also when powering up and shows Apple logo, it goes from horrible green tint to true black and then back to green tint until it boots up.

iPhone 12 Pro Max here pre-ordered.

I just chat with Apple and seems they are working on this.

So they are clear about it being a software bug. Good to know! No flickering here, just the raised gray. We’ll have to wait...

Here also no flickering, just that gray / green glow on true black background and it’s not happening all the times, it depends on my brightness.

Only place I can reproduce it every single time is when powering off or on the iPhone.

Same as me then. iPhone 12 (PRODUCT) Red 128GB. People were saying iOS 14.3 betas were not fixing the issue, I think we’re gonna have to wait.

That sucks!
I thought they learned their lesson and would fix this quickly!

Last year on 11 Pro Max it took up to 13.6.x until they finally fixed the issues...
Hope we don’t have to wait so long

It could be through iOS 14.4 I have no idea. But it looks something similar to last year’s iPhone 11 lineup (only OLED panels, I think). Who knows...

I have this issue on my 12 pro max

I have spoken to support twice, and have been told both times that they are ‘working on a software update’. No ETA as of yet though

Seeing as 14.3 release candidate was released today with no mention of this issue and it still effecting my iPhone, I have spoken to support again today and they have agreed to send me a replacement. (I have AppleCare so opted for express replacement service rather than in store), so we’ll see if the replacement has the same issue when it shows up

So at less than 70% I get that weird gray glow flicker but it’s weird I can have it happen when I touch the screen on an all black screen and once I don’t tap the screen it stays the solid black.

but at 100% brightness i don’t get the gray flicker thing...

That would make me think it’s software.

Does it still have same issue?

Hello! I wanted to know this new iphone 12 that arrived to you presents the problem again?

I restored my iPhone a week ago and the problem was gone. However after updating to iOS 14.3 it came back again. I wish Apple can resolve this soon, I don't want to restore my iPhone every time there is an update!

Just took delivery of a 12 pro max, same issue here. Glad to see that it’s a known issue for them, I’m sure they’ll get to it. Everything else with the phone seems great, so I don’t really want to exchange it.

so far apple is working around the issue to mask it as much as they can. It got better with 14.3 and 14.4 but not even close to iPhone XS Max and iPhone 11 Pro/MAX.

He does a very bad job of illustrating the issue in the video. In the dark, it's very apparent, and what you see changes when you slide the brightness slider. It's not a consistent change, and the glow is brightest somewhere in the middle. The iOS app Clocks allows you to display the time on black background. You can shrink the clock to a tiny size and change the brightness with the app running by sliding your finger on the screen (it's an option). The black display flickers at points. I've used this app for years for meditating in the dark if I wake up in the middle of the night, and noticed this display issue right away. Did not see it on any other iPhone with an OLED display until I got the 12 Pro Max a month ago. I don't see any difference in 14.4

I can’t tell what’s going on anymore. The display will still cast a greenish glow on a dark image; a few seconds later, it’ll go pure black.

I haven’t updated to 14.3 yet. I guess I will, test it, and contact support if it doesn’t work.

UPDATE: yeah, not much of a change. I’ll probably message Apple tomorrow.

Apple still can’t confirm if this is hardware or software. They must know for certain but I fear if it’s hardware they will leave us hanging for months before running a replacement program. If it’s software I’m surprised it’s not fixed in 14.4. It’s not a minor problem.

Article quote:

Apple has advised technicians to avoid servicing affected iPhones, at least for now, and instead inform customers that they should keep their iPhone up to date with the latest iOS version. This guidance suggests that Apple may be confident that it can fix the issue in a future software update.”

^ This is a lot more reassuring that it can possibly be patched through a software update versus actually having to exchange or send the phone in for repair.
They’ll do what Oneplus did when they were also plagued with green tint issue on the one plus 8 pro. The update merely prevented the display reaching its lowest previous brightness levels. Which in turn reduced or eliminated the green tint issues.
