My 6 is running 15.5 and I’ve not yet experienced this behavior. Sounds annoying. That it’s software-based is likely a positive (aka: fixable in an update). We shall see.
Same here. I usually have issues with Apple products (minor issues), but not this one, fortunately. Sounds like a fix is most likely coming for those experiencing this! 👍

Adding my anecdotal report: I charge mine from my Mac Mini and haven't had any issues to date, fortunately.

Apparently they did. I haven’t seen it on my model, and when I was in the store looking to purchase, the issue had disappeared from the display models. I can verify that I did initially see it in earlier models. I think they updated the software somehow to fix it.
As others have said since release, it’s a hardware issue

Haven’t seen it on any Apple Mini in stores here for at least 3 months. Nor on the used Mini that I purchased.

You don’t think a software update can adjust framerates on a machine feeding less than 60hz refresh to a 60hz panel?

I don’t think anyone purchasing today needs to worry about it. Whether they went with different screens or software updates, the issue is fixed.

I love the iPad mini for working on creative projects while traveling light. I am waiting for the next update tho to upgrade my iPad mini 5. Hope they fix this issue as well as the jelly scroll issue. Oh, and a promotion display would be nice as well. Are you listening Apple?!

This charging bug is annoying. I had it happen to my mini 6 a few minutes ago. It’s probably the third time it’s happened, and at least a restart worked. The first time I thought my cable or charger died.

My Air 4 experiences this same issue. Won’t charge randomly, restart fixes it. Is there a way to program an automation to force restart every night?

Have not had the "charging bug" (though on 15.5 since it's release) but I do notice that if I don't plug it in to charge overnight the battery will drain all by it's lonesome. It is in an Apple folio case and I do get the locking "click" when I close the cover.

Check the battery usage. My Air 2 on 15.5 has been using a TON of "background activity" for the App Store.

I have the same issue, i thought my kids ruined my ipad lol, they tend to break everything.

So far my ipad 6 gets little use from me, i did not expect that.
The screen is just too disapointment, the brightness, lack of lushful colors like OLED has, the jelly scroll initially did not bother me that much but it is excessive even with slow movements you can see it.

Also my usecase for the ipad mini is not what i expected it to be, that is a personal thing i always end up either using my macbook pro 2019 or iphone 11 for youtube etc.

Somehow the mini never really gravitates to me.

that's a hardware thing, it's imposible to fix unless Apple change the screens for other type
Oh yes for sure, I know why the jelly scroll exists and it cannot be fixed on these current devices. My point is that it’s a shame that Apple released the product with this very obvious and annoying flaw. Sure, it can be looked past, and it’s not the end of the world, but in my opinion it is below a standard of quality that Apple should be offering In a product that carries their name. I won’t buy one because of it.

I can confirm I have this problem. Sometimes the mini won't charge until you restart it.
Also, if you plug the charger and it does not charge, if you restart with the charger plugged it does not start charging. You have to remove the cable , restart and then charge it.
Just an update. 15.6 fixed this issue and I have not seen this since.

Thanks Tim.
