The first day I had my 7, I missed 3 calls with the phone in my pocket. I've switched to my SE because it's the only phone that showed 3 missed calls with 2 voicemails. The SE is the only one I hadn't updated to iOS 10. My 6s plus didn't show the missed call either which was also updated to iOS 10.

Qualcomm modem for the win!!!

Sorry do disappoint Intel bashers. I have a Verizon iphone 7 (thus a Qualcomm modem). Same symptoms. I lose service (No Service) AND GPS while driving and using "maps" app every 20-30 minutes. It restores itself after 3-5 minutes....

Have done all the Apple recommended "fixes". No effect.

This looks to be more of IOS10 issue and not hardware specific.

As far as Intel modem goes, I bet Apple has realized nice savings from QC given that there is now competition for the modem slot.

Follow up on my post.

FIX AVAILABLE!
I have a solution. Turn off LTE Voice.

Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Enable LTE -> Data Only.

It doesn't fix it

I own the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB. I was wondering if it was 10.1 that was causing this to happen to me but it looks like it isn't going by these posts. My phone is sitting on NO SERVICE most of the time then suddenly will jump into 3G or 4G signal and i start getting hit with lots of notifications but when i goto make a phone call or access the internet i can't. My wife has an iPhone 6S on iOS 10.0.2 and it works perfectly and my friend has an iPhone 7 on 10.0.2 with no issues either so is this a hardware problem?

I've been experiencing everything you all have mentioned in this thread. I'm in central NJ, Iphone 7 matte black 128gb, picked up from Verizon store on launch day. Tried every fix and nothing helped long term. I was on phone for 45 minutes last night with Verizon, got to tier 2 support, and they told me Apple has contacted Verizon and told them that the 10.0.2 update should have fixed this issue. I explained I've been on 10.0.2 for a couple days and it still happened. Verizon said apple told them if the issue persists after the 10.0.2 update that we should erase the phone completely and then restore from Icloud backup (NOT plugged into computer). I did the restore last night. So far no problems this morning, but will report back if this fixed the problem (I will know by end of day).

Verizon told me to go to recovery mode and update to 10.0.2. Did that last night and the problem still persists today.

Well. Same problem tonight. No service right down my block. Really sucks. Already traded in my iPhone 6. Let's hope apple or Verizon fixes this quickly

Apple is aware of and investigating an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus issue that can result in the loss of cellular service after turning off Airplane Mode on the devices, according to internal documents obtained by MacRumors.

In the meantime, Apple has advised authorized service providers to instruct customers to restart the affected iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. If no service persists, Apple advises customers to remove and re-insert the device's SIM card.

In a video shared with MacRumors by reader Yasser El-Haggan, an iPhone 7 can be seen with no service alongside an iPhone 6s with two bars of LTE after Airplane Mode is toggled off on both devices. Both of the iPhones are said to be AT&T models, which means the iPhone 7 has an Intel modem rather than a Qualcomm modem used for Verizon and Sprint models.

El-Haggan said he took his iPhone 7 to an Apple Store, where the Genius Bar swapped out the device with a new one. The employee had allegedly seen the issue on a few previous handsets, and he immediately replaced the device per Apple's instructions in lieu of running a basic diagnostic test. Apple appears to have replacement iPhone 7 models reserved for these scenarios per standard policy.

This is an iOS10 issue, not just iPhone 7 series. I was out in the country this weekend and switched to airplane mode. I switched back when I got home, where I am very well connected, and 'No Service'. I finally rebooted the phone and it reconnected.

For the record, I have a 6s+ running iOS 10.

tbh this happens to me every time I fly since the iphone 4 days. 90% of the time it takes a reboot for the roaming to kick in.

I had the exact same issue. I don't have Apple Care but I do have insurance through Verizon. I went into Verizon and they told me this is an Apple issue (antenna gone bad) and that since it is still under my one year warranty that I would be able to get a new phone at no charge if I went into an Apple Store. I was skeptic at first because this seemed to be too good to be true since again, I did not have AppleCare on the device. But sure enough...Apple exchanged it out for a brand new device for me right there on the spot since it is a known issue with some devices. Easy and simple process! Very happy customer! Thanks Apple!
