Someone put a note 7 battery in there and wants 15 mins of fame
Just love how the article says the iPhone 7 is "melting." But when the Note 7 had its battery issue and was doing the exact same thing, it was referred to as "exploding."![]()
If the mechanism/algorithm to control the charging is within the device itself, then how could a cable not stop charging if the device simply would stop accepting the charge from the cable?

Seems like melting comes up in the headline and the first sentence of the article, but after that exploding is used for the most part.
Wow. They could have been my phone. Could have took my whole house down. I hope Tim looks into this.
Isn't that the whole point about using MFI cables? Cheap cables could fry the charging circuit leading to other issues.Exactly. It's up to the phone to stop charging. Blaming the cable because it continued to deliver electricity is ridiculous.
That's like blaming the sink for continuing to supply water and overflowing your glass, when you should have turned the knobs when you were done.
What does the water faucet know???
A cable is just wires providing a supply. It's up to the device / phone to say I've had enough, and I'm closing the supply gate for now.

The article says the phone blew up, but neither the video or photo support that claim. I suspect no Samsungs exploded either, but people do love to exaggerate.
How/why was it rushed?Apple shouldn't have rushed the iPhone 7
Apple shouldn't have rushed the iPhone 7
But Your post isn't an exaggeration? What are the chances of somebody filming or photographing the phone actually blowing up at the time it happens? It's usually after the fact when someone has the time to react and or realize what's happening. Especially when dealing with an unpredictable smoldering iPhone. I think you're Not factoring the elements of the situation, regardless if this article is fictitious or not.
A few on here were saying "think of the children" and bombs...in relation to the note 7. There was some really silly exaggeration.
Completely agree with you in relation to catching the incident .
Is it bad that I imagine someone talking like this likely makes minimum wage or still gets money from the bank of dad? Then I begin to wonder how Ms. Oh Hell can even afford an iPhone 7 Plus with an IQ like that.... SighTranscript:
"Dude what the ****... are you ****ing serious right now.. oh hell...."
So all $1 phone chargers are safe and it's the iPhone that doesn't work with them?Exactly. It's up to the phone to stop charging. Blaming the cable because it continued to deliver electricity is ridiculous.

That's just a marketing ploy so you only buy their chargers and cables. That way apple makes more money.
As for a lot saying this is fake I don't think so. All of a sudden apple has a phone or 2 that this happens and folks can't believe that it could happen. Why? Cause it's apple? Some are just so brain washed.

There's a reason almost every time there is an issue you see a cheap cable in the pic. I used to have an aftermarket charger that was not certified and I noticed my phone would always be really hot while charging. I bought a belkin that was certified and it stopped. The chip is a part of the Lightning circuitry that allows it to perform many functions while managing power flow. Cheap cables leave this outThat's just a marketing ploy so you only buy their chargers and cables. That way apple makes more money.

My mistake for upvoting this. Save your blood pressure and wait until you find out that this is probably a stunt.Wow. They could have been my phone. Could have took my whole house down. I hope Tim looks into this.
