So good! How long before companies making data harvesting “invite” web sites complain to the EU that Apple, by creating a service that doesn’t automatically put users on tons of mailing lists, is anti-competitive?![]()

I’ve tried a few times, and while it works well to create the invitation and to send them to people with iPhone, my non-Apple family members couldn’t view the invitation even though it should work. Made it pointless lol now it’s fun to plan date nights
Agreed. Like a lot of the shared features between Apple devices it works well with a small group of friends or my immediate family, but there’s always one with Android that throws it all off. It would be nice if everyone had an iPhone hahaThat's a good point and a good idea. This only works if everyone plays along. I don't know anyone who know enough Apple/tech enthusiasts to plan a party this way. But it might work with one other person.
Another one of those things that probably works far better in the Bay Area.
Agree. Just enhance Calendar. When clicking the + button in Calendar, add New Invite as an option, give users Apple Invite functionality and call it good.I can confirm that Apple uses this app for invites to its events as I have used it with the. Not one person in my life has though ever asked me about it.
I feel this will go the way of many of their apps like Clips. These features should like just be integrated into Calendar.
I would actually love a first party hydration app!I am baffled by this app. I'm not saying there's no market for it (is there?) but is this really something should a technology behemoth, one of the richest and most influential companies in the world, be doing? What's next, a water drinking reminder?
There is certainly a market for this, but the number one baffling thing is that it's not viewable by Android users lol. And yes, like you said, it took them 15 years to release a calculator app on the iPad but somehow this was also high on their priority list.I am baffled by this app. I'm not saying there's no market for it (is there?) but is this really something should a technology behemoth, one of the richest and most influential companies in the world, be doing? It is against EU law to automatically put anyone on a mailing list. How long before companies making data harvesting “invite” web sites complain to the EU that Apple, by creating a service that doesn’t automatically put users on tons of mailing lists, is anti-competitive?![]()
I wanted to ask it multiple times but did not know where, maybe here makes sense. Actually why apple needs to allow 3rd parties the same functionality as it allows itself? Im thinking they did all R&D, they build hardware and own it. They made all API for own hardware. Why do they have to open up for other companies? It is not as on android side where google does not own hardware. Im thinking when i build my garden I don’t want everyone to visit it and step on my grass😊What a stupid comment. EU will have a problem if apple creates this, but blocks another apps with similar functionality from operating on iPhone. Nothing less, nothing more. You don't have to download it or use it, but Apple needs to allow 3rd parties the same functionality as it allows itself.
Step 2b: Put the guy who thought this app was a good idea in the first place, and especially those responsible for the Apple account requirement to respond on no more project forever. How to fix: Step 1. Pull everyone from this project. Step 2. Put them on Apple Intelligence. 3. Enjoy success!
While most things about this app are stupid, this is not one of them. Whoever is invested enough in the Apple ecosystem and lives in an Apple bubble to the extent that all their family and friends have Apple IDs – i.e. the only ones who would ever use this App – already is an iCloud+ subscriber. It isn't exactly smart either, it just barely matters.I'm glad they haven't completly forgotten about this app, but limiting invite creation to iCloud subscribers is STUPID! This app will simply never take off if they limit it like that. Can't they see this? I just cannot believe they're still doing that.
I guess you’re spot on. It’s impossible for Apple to think this app is a good idea. So there must be an alternative reason. So I guess the point is to collect as many Apple accounts as possible from not-yet-apple-users? 🤷♂️
