Also includes bug fixes and performance improvements?

What kind of performance improvements were needed in this app?

Also they should make a dedicated iPadOS version and maybe a Windows version by Spring 2026.

I’ve tried a few times, and while it works well to create the invitation and to send them to people with iPhone, my non-Apple family members couldn’t view the invitation even though it should work. Made it pointless lol now it’s fun to plan date nights

That's a good point and a good idea. This only works if everyone plays along. I don't know anyone who know enough Apple/tech enthusiasts to plan a party this way. But it might work with one other person.

Another one of those things that probably works far better in the Bay Area.

Agreed. Like a lot of the shared features between Apple devices it works well with a small group of friends or my immediate family, but there’s always one with Android that throws it all off. It would be nice if everyone had an iPhone haha

Am I the only one who read the word “invites” as a verb in this headline? I could not understand which App Apple was inviting somewhere, or what the heck an “iPhone Updated” was. Much less why there would be anything new about this invitation for an app made specifically for “iPhone Updated”🙃

I can confirm that Apple uses this app for invites to its events as I have used it with the. Not one person in my life has though ever asked me about it.

I feel this will go the way of many of their apps like Clips. These features should like just be integrated into Calendar.
Agree. Just enhance Calendar. When clicking the + button in Calendar, add New Invite as an option, give users Apple Invite functionality and call it good.

Outside of maybe parents with a kid(s), who creates and sends out invites at a rate that warrants a standalone app?
Maybe they exist?

I’ve used it for several events. Generally agree with others here.

It would be great if it were easier for non Apple users to RSVP. They can and some of my non Apple friends have had no problem. Others have complained and it could just be because they’re anti Apple. Who knows? lol

But yes, it would be great if it were built into Calendar.

Overall, I prefer this though to other tools like random evite platforms because who knows what they do with their data. As a host, I don’t particularly like that. As a guest, I definitely don’t like giving my data to some random service (or the host doing it on my behalf when they use it to send me an invite).

From the point of invitation, this can be a needed change. However don't know how many are using this app. I have access to the app being a iCloud+ subscriber but I am not using it and don't think I will find a need for it.

I am baffled by this app. I'm not saying there's no market for it (is there?) but is this really something should a technology behemoth, one of the richest and most influential companies in the world, be doing? What's next, a water drinking reminder?
I would actually love a first party hydration app!
I chronically drink little to nothing since I’ve been a kid and I refuse to pay a subscription for an app that reminds me to drink water.
I mean, there are many ways to remind you of something, but tracking and displaying that data in a simple way is what makes these apps great, if only they weren’t charging what they are charging.

There is certainly a market for this, but the number one baffling thing is that it's not viewable by Android users lol. And yes, like you said, it took them 15 years to release a calculator app on the iPad but somehow this was also high on their priority list.

How long before companies making data harvesting “invite” web sites complain to the EU that Apple, by creating a service that doesn’t automatically put users on tons of mailing lists, is anti-competitive? :)
It is against EU law to automatically put anyone on a mailing list.

What a stupid comment. EU will have a problem if apple creates this, but blocks another apps with similar functionality from operating on iPhone. Nothing less, nothing more. You don't have to download it or use it, but Apple needs to allow 3rd parties the same functionality as it allows itself.
I wanted to ask it multiple times but did not know where, maybe here makes sense. Actually why apple needs to allow 3rd parties the same functionality as it allows itself? Im thinking they did all R&D, they build hardware and own it. They made all API for own hardware. Why do they have to open up for other companies? It is not as on android side where google does not own hardware. Im thinking when i build my garden I don’t want everyone to visit it and step on my grass😊

How to fix: Step 1. Pull everyone from this project. Step 2. Put them on Apple Intelligence. 3. Enjoy success!
Step 2b: Put the guy who thought this app was a good idea in the first place, and especially those responsible for the Apple account requirement to respond on no more project forever.

I read “Apple invites…” and was excited for a moment thinking we would have another event this year for the HomePod mini and Apple TV. Needless to say I got disappointed after reading the rest of the title….

I'm glad they haven't completly forgotten about this app, but limiting invite creation to iCloud subscribers is STUPID! This app will simply never take off if they limit it like that. Can't they see this? I just cannot believe they're still doing that.
While most things about this app are stupid, this is not one of them. Whoever is invested enough in the Apple ecosystem and lives in an Apple bubble to the extent that all their family and friends have Apple IDs – i.e. the only ones who would ever use this App – already is an iCloud+ subscriber. It isn't exactly smart either, it just barely matters.

So I guess the point is to collect as many Apple accounts as possible from not-yet-apple-users? 🤷‍♂️
I guess you’re spot on. It’s impossible for Apple to think this app is a good idea. So there must be an alternative reason.

I like the app, but no one uses it or even knows about it, seemingly.

I used it one time so far and got many replies asking whether my phone was hacked and if someone was sending out dodgy links on my behalf.

Can we invite Apple to get its sh*t together ?

Can they stop wasting time with this intern project and focus on fixing the UI, solve the keyboard madness (YMMV, I'm using both french and US keyboard, and dear Lord it's infuriating - no wonder everyone sends voice message, typing has been ruined), actually waking me up in the morning when I set an alarm... I don't know, there are loads of litlle stuff they could be working on BUT THAT useless thing.

I know I sound like a broken record, but man where is the magic ? Where is the cleverness Apple used to shine with ?
These days they keep overpromising and underdelivering.

There are still some sparks of light, I love the Airpods Pro for instance, but Apple seems to be either dead set in ruining the things they do right (had to disable Siri announcing notifications since it read all them entirely before asking me if I want it to read them to me), or either can't focus on delivering one full product right.

Haaaa...
But no, let's make an Invite app for the not-so-smart-as-they-think people too stuck in their Apple bubble to keep them running in circles in their shiny round campus.

My circle of friends also almost left Facebook entirely, so something like this is an excellent idea and fills a hole. Working well, we would all use it all the time. But as others have said, interacting with non-apple users is incredibly complicated and makes the app unusable. If someone reads these forums at Apple, you know what to do.

...it took them 15 years to release a calculator app on the iPad but somehow this was also high on their priority list.

When Apple (I think it was Craig) gave that flippant reason why they waited so long to provide a calculator... I got a strong intuition that my decades with Apple might be coming to an end. Said something like "...wanted to wait until we could do a calculator Apple's way" (not a good recollection but in the ball park). No Apple, job one is not thinking first about what helps Apple's brand, rather what the customer needs. Invites, iPhoneAir... Thinking "Brand First" rather than "It just works to meet customers' needs" is a big problem for the little cult of guys at the top of Apple. Really need new ideas in this group, but likely not happening. Meanwhile I am getting deeper and deeper into Linux and reliving how Apple became so great once it gots its original MacOS linux version out the door. Linux is not for everyone, but if you want to spend a bit of time, customizing it such that IT JUST WORKS FOR ME is not too hard, and a revelation vs. where Apple is going (IMHO). Even if you don't spend the time on customization, something like Ubuntu straight-outta-the-box is worth a look running on some older hardware. Apologies for the rant, NSC
