Thank you. After years of dealing with this issue your instructions did the trick. Been responding fine for 2 days now so I believe this issue is solved.

And, BTW, for Apple ID password entry for ATV: use the Apple Remote app on your iPhone, etc., and your password manager (1Password, etc.), and copy/paste it in. I've never entered it by hand.

Thanks for confirming it is working for you. Makes a big difference to the ease of use with Plex now.

I did read somewhere that Bonjour may cause streaming connections to fail but I have never experienced this.

I'm seeing issues with streaming now that I have WOL working. Its not the LAN as file transfers work fine. Lot's of pauses for buffering. One crash so far -- something I have not seen with Plex Player for a long time, if ever. Both ends on static IP's. I'm going to turn it back off and see what happens.

Weird, I have streamed a couple of 20 min episodes and one 2 hour movie without a single hiccup. Did you uncheck the GDM option in server settings? If you did, try checking that option again and if WOL stops, reapply the terminal fix after you have the GDM option checked.
Let me know how you get on.

One other thing, did you ever have an issue with the server going to sleep? I had that on occasion so have a utility that keeps the server alive while Plex is in use. That may have some bearing on things.

Thanks. Will check them both. The server going to sleep "should" not be an issue as I'm using a 15 minute sleep time. I doubt the buffers store 15 minutes worth of video. However, I do recall this was an issue in the past. What utility are you using?

GDM was unchecked. Checked it and will see later today if that works.

Cool, keep us posted. I'm using Wimoweh at the moment to keep the server alive while Plex is running - it is on th eapp store. You can also use the free app called Jiggler which does similar.

Streamed fine after I checked the GDM box. Assuming one night is a good enough sample size, appears using the command line and checking the GDM box provides WOL with no streaming issues. Will post if any issues return with more use.

Good to hear. I don't have GDM checked but it has been waking and streaming flawlessly every night since the weekend. Just perfect timing for the ATV4 arriving tomorrow.

This has been quite a journey. I'm now streaming fine, GDM is checked, WOL is working fine. What I finally had to do is reverse the command line with a zero at the end, then check the GDM box. Before I "undid" the command line, I was getting flaky streaming, though WOL worked. No idea, don't want to know.

ATV using Simplex for Plex is also running fine. Though I would say both the Simplex developer and Apple have a lot of work to do before I'd consider them a job well done. The ATV strikes me as a rushed job that should not have been released.
