Apple Invites Media to 'Notebook' Event October 14th

man, this takes a load off me. Told the wife not buying a laptop for her until after next week. Had there not been an event, my wife would have hung me because I have been putting her off for weeks.

i wonder why it took them so long to announce it (thursday instead of tuesday). it seems like they were waiting for something last minute to happen before they announced it - like software testing or some production thing. what do ya'll think?

Thank god. I was getting worried!! finally!! let's just hope there isn't a four-week wait after they are announced.
 
got a feeling that they will be announced this day and maybe available the following tuesday?

Finally!!

I've been waiting since April for this as the power management on my 1st gen MBP (1.87) is fubared and I can't turn it on with the battery IN it.

You need to find a way to get on their "press" list for these events....
 
I'm stoked, obv, but if they aren't going to be available until that time of day them I'm kind of annoyed. I'm supposed to be boarding a plane at 1:00 PM eastern. <head explodes>
 
This is going to be incredible. Full focus on notebooks. I can't wait to see what they come out with.

Wanna buy a latest rev black MacBook? :)

Should be able to get the new macbook with the back to school promotion so new ipod for daughter in uni....glad I waited:D
 
Even though everyone seems to think updates can't come soon enough, if you think about it, Apple has really moved fast this year...MacBook Air, time capsule, iPhone 3G, mobile me, iPhone 2.0, a lineup of new iPods, and now new laptops.
 
Ha, looks like this means no Mini/Cinema Display/Mac Pro update.

But I'm looking to buy a MB/MBP (depending on features) so sounds good to me :D
 
my bet is that they will ship on the 15... the date nvidia announces their chips...
btw i hope apple replaces my current gen mbp... because its defect and they already decided to replace it for me... only question is it gonna be the new or the yet current one...?
btw they are waiting for me to give them back the ac etc.
so i guess if i wait a couple of days i will get a new one or am i wrong?
 
AAAAH! :D I almost cried when I saw this. I've been waiting since MW08. I decided to start saving for a new MacBook then. I have now saved enough to buy four. ;)

...I still think I'm about to cry.
