HomePod needs HomeKit support to act as a doorbell chime for HomeKit doorbells.
5.0 or 7.0 (no subwoofer needed or one homepod could only function as the sub - if possible). How about more than two homepods as surround speakers, thought that was in the pipeline
Apple’s website lists three HomeKit enabled doorbells. And Ring works with Homebridge, but that requires more work than simple plug and play.what doorbells with homekit do we have right now?
The „ring“ ones from amazon dont work with homekit as far as i know.

would be so great if the setup would be automatical due to the microphones inside the homepods. They could meassure themselves where they are in the room etc. The perfect sound setup.
I‘ve got some more ideas for the homepod, apple should just ask me![]()
Ah okay interesting!Apple Beta
appleseed.apple.com
Basically a private targeted beta program, not 'public' like the public beta, and not developer focused - could be everyday users, Apple Store staff, etc.
So the question that i have is, the HOMEPOD is it worth buying?
Yes, during Best Buy $199 sales. I currently own five; two stereo pairs and one used monophonically.
There was a substantial improvement going to stereo.
First of all you probably need to be running iOS 14 on the iPhone to do this. Then go to your Appleseed site and select HomePod on the left side, then click on download and then download the profile using your iPhone.Same boat.
Thanks so much! I missed the profile on Appleseed. I have iOS14 already and will install the profile now!First of all you probably need to be running iOS 14 on the iPhone to do this. I would have them checked out. Mine have functioned that way for quite some time. Only time I have to reselect them on the Apple Tv is after a reboot. All I want is for them to function as a stereo pair of speakers for the Apple TV, as advertised, and as last worked reliably in tvOS11.
Can I use HOMEPOD as a surround sound when watching a movie?Yes, during Best Buy $199 sales. I currently own five; two stereo pairs and one used monophonically.

But I am not. I have no idea how and why I got invite to this but I accepted. Am I breaking some rules? I thought this was widely available. Anyway, thanks for the tip, I removed those screenshoots just to make sure I am not breaking some rule!dude if you're an apple employee, i'd delete that picture for your own good.![]()
I had Tidal for 3 months. Gapless playback is missedI hope this happens with Tidal (yes, I'm their one user). I'm currently running my HomePods through my phone or iPad and they sound great.
Another need is to get stereo HomePods to play from a Mac. You can do it via Airplay with Apple Music but not Tidal.
Even then, watching videos on Youtube etc still comes out on only a single HomePod.

Reboot. Then it reverts to TV HDMISleep or reboot? Because If I put the ATV to sleep, sound reverts to the TV (HDMI).
Anyone get Beta 3 today?
Honestly, they are amazing speakers, and that is it. They are horrible smart speakers.Even that’s an improvement over how it’s been for me.
