Considering they have a Burberry CEO on their team, I can't imagine that they're deluding themselves about having an actual fashion piece here. There's no way this is going to end up being a new-fangled calculator watch. I'm super intrigued.

Since there are no real reference points in the photo, there is no way of really telling much about this mock-up.

However, I rather like it, but I doubt that the actual device will look anything like it.

Someone should start a thread with a number of the mock-ups on it and have a vote on which people think is closest to what the real one will be, then see how close we come.

Part of me keeps thinking that the iWatch will just be your normal looking watch, non digital, no electronic screen for reading anything on, just lots of sensors to feed back things to the iPhone behind a normal watch face. That way it won't have a geeky/nerdy look.

Would be interesting if it was primarily a data collection device and not a tiny phone with a leather strap.

Everyone zigs and apple zags?

I'm too lazy to go and find it but there's 'that' mockup (the thinner vertical screen like a super cool Fuel Band) that looks really nice, and then... Ones like this. Ugh. Just awful.

Puts me in mind of those 70s watch straps that prog rock fans liked for a while.

This may well be the first time in a loooong time that the product looks totally different to the concepts. At least I hope it does. If they're inviting fashion gurus to the event then they must think pretty highly of this new tech, not just in what it does but obviously in how it looks. And if it does look anything like the concepts then there will a big slice of humble pie to eat.

So the big structure is a fashion show runway?

I hope so. For my phone, I don't care so much what it looks like. I put it in a case, so I mostly care about what the case looks like. But a watch is also a fashion item. The smartwatches (or dumbwatches) so far have looked terrible, perhaps with the exception of some nicer models released over the past week. If Apple doesn't come up with something really fancy, they won't get my money.

What most of us have known for a long, long time - people want to been SEEN with that Apple product and THAT logo better be displayed prominently.

As someone said on anther thread -

"This is my favorite of the iWatch Mockups. I'd wear that watch in the mockup if it had an Apple logo on it."

Because of this, I'm really looking forward to how it will look. I know I may want it but a version 1 device of that type isn't in my roadmap for purchases this year or the next

I'm predicting whatever it looks like it won't be called i anything. Not iWatch or iWrist or anything. iThing has had it's day. iTime to move on.

That's what I've been starting to think, too. I've been skeptical about the whole iWatch thing, but color me intrigued.

I think Apple has to walk a very fine line here. They don't want their products to come off as only high end fashion accessories. If apple gets the rep as being electronics for the fashion crowd, then I'm out, and I don't think Apple would have nearly the mainstream appeal it does now. So be careful!

Take a Swiss made watch, design it by fantastic designers (Marc & Ive), get on board some intelligent style experts (Burberry CEO etc), and fill it with tech made by the most innovative company in history. Now that would be a f*!king smart watch.
