Initially, it shocked me how many people in this thread are against having the option to dock the iPad in landscape.

But then I realized most of you are Apple fanboys, and have been brainwashed into thinking "options" are a bad thing.

I was surprised the first rev didn't have this. Horizontal orientation is way, way more useful to me than portrait, or vertical. Do it, Apple.

Dear Apple,

Allow us to sync over wifi and add a mag save charger to the iPhone and iPad.

Get rid of this tethering/syncing BS.

Warm regards,
Brinkman

I'm against it because it's ugly and unnecessary.

I just like that they've gone to all the trouble of drawing annoying reflections on the glass in that patent illustration.

This would be great for recording. You could attach two mics. Even if your not a musician, haven't you ever needed to attach two 3rd party attachments? Think people!

There's a definite split among Apple users- the old school that uses their machines for creating things and doing work, and see computers foremost as tools, and the new school 'fanbois' that mostly just gawk at the outer design and see computers foremost as status symbols.

It's nice when Apple -on occasion- gets back to the 'old school' user base that actually plans on being productive with the things, not just gawking at them.

Function > Form, not Form > Function.

Unnecessary to you does not mean it is universally unnecessary. Perhaps you don't use the USB inputs on the back of your Apple display or keyboard, but that doesn't mean they're unnecessary.

As far as "ugly", give me a break. I bet you thought about not buying the iPhone 4 because it had lines on the side. People like you are what is wrong with Apple users.

Agreed :)

Heck... Apple just farts and suddenly everyone here starts to speculate about the realization of their own "feature wish-list". LET GO!!!

absolutely!

Spoken like someone who's never connected their iPhone/iPod/iPad to a television or a car stereo and benefited from the engineering of the 30-pin Dock Connector that includes not only sync and charging capability but also video and audio outputs. THUS, USB and MagSafe were not used. Remember way back when, that iPods first had Firewire ports for sync and charge...

iPad 2?

I don't know....it looks a lot more like the iPhone 4 than the current iPad. The second dock connector would help for folks that have Apple's keyboard dock...but can't really see another use unless there is another accessory coming out. Still....don't se a camera so ???

The purported dock connector picitured on the left side assumes the exact position of the micro sim card slot in the 3G model...
