I have really liked the 925. My only complaint is the rubber ear part stretches and the earpiece then rotates down.

Unfortunately, my extremely pampered (and lightly used) headset has stopped picking up 90% of its audio today, which led me to starting looking at the apple headset.

Note: didn't like the Jawbone 2.

What about the jawbone did you not like?

Fit and feel was big. It also wasn't stable... I couldn't wear it while moving my head around like with the 925. Also didn't fit well with glasses. And my wife didn't like the sound. Also was an awkward shape to put in your shirt pocket.

If I can get the Apple headset for 60ish I'll go for that. If not I'll wait.

Hmmm... I wonder if the recent "extended BT support" in the new 3.0 firmware (beta) has anything to do with this... or the newer versions sitting on the edge!

Looks like it may have been discontinued but it is the BT8010 and the link shows what it looks like. It is definitely out of your size range but I like the versatility of it and hope to god it connects when 3.0 is released....PLEASE MAKE IT SOON APPLE, don't wait until August for this release.

The BT 8040 is what I have. It's basically double the size of your ear opening. I bought one from a retailer through Amazon and found out that you often save $30 or $40 because you get a photocopied manual and don't get stuff like a USB charger. But I paid maybe $30 for something that retails for a lot more, and aside from not knowing where to find more chargers, I'm really happy. It supports A2DP and doesn't fall off -- well, out of -- my ear.

the apple bluetooth has extremely poor performance..just read a few reviews..stick to a jawbone or the new plantronics

I think the iPhone is good as a phone. It may not be able to forward texts, send and receive MMS, no stereo bluetooth, no video recording but it still seems like a decent phone. It looks kind of weird having to hold that huge piece of plastic up to my ear though.

I totally agree that there are many BT headsets that put Apple's BT to shame. When I first bought mine, the connectivity and recharging were the big selling points for me, but as I began using it 24/7, I found it to lack in the "holding a charge" category; it wouldn't work while the iPhone was in my pocket; and it wouldn't work more than 10' from my iPhone. The dock was nice, but the asking price was a ripoff, (though I only paid $60 cash from CL seller) I'm currently using the Motorola H12 Motopure. There will have to be a huge number of FIXES to Apple's BT and adjust the price to about $50....

Now I don't know what version of the iPhone you're using, but i've read and heard from a bunch of people that the iPhone headset is a completely different product when used with the 3G.

I very much think so.

I have forseen a new product called "BlueTune", a very similar apple Bluetooth head set with a detachable thin wire that connects to another earbud for the other ear. A stereo Bluetooth headset for use with calls, music, and game audio, as well as in-game audio chat ala the new APIs.

I've been going through the APIs and the potential is unreal.

Yeah, I sold it with my v1 iPhone a couple days after I bought my 3G iPhone, and it still needed to be sold. Poor range and it seemed to drain faster with the 3G iPhone....:(

Oh. I heard the exact opposite. That it's better with the new iPhone.
