Until 6 months from now when it starts freezing and randomly restarting. That is what Androids do. I love the idea of Android but in practice, they suck after 6 months of ownership. The "walled garden" approach from Apple creates a much more fluid, seamless experience.

Not to mention that even the 7 Plus runs circles around the Note in terms of everyday performance and that gap will only increase with the release of the X/8 Plus.
I've never had any freezing or random restarting issues with my Samsung Galaxy S7 or S8. I like my iPhone 7 too.

Smartphones on both sides are pretty much dead to me tbh. I'm sure the iPhone X will look very nice in person. Not sold on the face ID. I'd rather just have touch.

Personally I'm a tablet guy(shrugs).

Yeah what a terrible product, it's only made of surgical grade steel and it only RECOGNIZES YOUR FACE and unlocks for you, you don't even have to touch it, it freaking LOOKS AT YOU and unlocks if you and only you are using it. What a piece of junk, the Palm Pilot had that feature back in 2001.

You still have to swipe with a finger.

Have you guys noticed that these executives were scared as (insert your words)?
Seriously. It's as if they met the devil themselves or something. Something was right with keynote.

I agree with you on this. It seemed they were very apprehensive and nervous during the keynote, where they were stuttering a lot. And I'm not disparaging against any of the executives, but the ambience did seem very different to me. I'm not sure why this was. Perhaps due to the immense amount of pressure with this new iPhone and in the new theater.

I'm not going to be dramatic about this, but Apple is dead to me.

Okay, they were not sophisticated enough to imbed a touch id button under the screen so instead they go with Face ID. That's fine. But don't take us for fools by using Face ID as one of the X's big ticket items. I feel robbed. We already had a security measure in place, so what do they do, use an alternative security measure as a big new thing to come to iphone because they have hardly anything else to talk about, they have run out of ideas, there is nothing new with the X

Wireless charging. Yea great. Now iphone is only 2 years behind every other phone.

Oled display. Seriously is Apple that bereft of ideas that they have to talk about what every other ****ing smartphone in 2017 has?

Better camera and more powerful chip. This is what you can expect to be the big feature next year because they will have nothing new for next year so expect a better camera and a more powerful chip next year too.

This was supposed to be the biggy. This year Apple was supposed to come out of its post Steve Jobs shell and deliver. **** them, all they did was another incremental upgrade, and I'm talkking about the iphone x.

Where's the big softeare features? Still the same boring as ******* grid of apps, no ability to customise, not even split screen multitasking, it's 2017 for crying out loud. - "the most advanced mobile phone operating system" - yea right, pig's farking ass it is.

Time to start looking at the Note 8 because Apple is dead to me after this keynote.

Seems like you know your phones.

So, you'd then know that if you wanted one that was first to have many new features, you'd look somewhere other than here, a MacRumours website.

Shouldn't you be happy with your preferred device, seeing as it's beaten iPhones to the punch for a few years now & not stressing over an iPhone release?

Are you lost?

We got differences but i'm glad you are seeing something here.

I honestly don't know what people expect. Its a phone, what else can be packed in to it? Do people expect it to do the house work and include a flesh light? Like seriously what do people expect?
Split screen multi tasking on a phone, why? Once you get a keyboard up how much room is there going to be? The swiping across the bottom of the screen between apps seems a much better option than having two tiny apps running.

Good rant though, I do like these types of post.

Pretty dramatic about a phone. A PHONE. I read an article today that talked about why we feel so uptight, frustrated and impatient about something we want, and then once it is released we feel relieved not because of the new phone or whatever, but because the anxiety, and frustration we felt while waiting for the product was alleviated. Apparently in this case, the OP was frustrated, and the release of a new product has not alleviated his anxiety or anger. I don't blame you.

Once your done psycho analysing me, perhaps go back and re-emread my OP. Thanks.

You've been here since 2014...my guess is between now and Apple's Sept 2018 keynote, Apple will rise from the head and become your savior again.

Meh, Samsung marketing. It makes a lot of features seem useful but in practice rarely get used. Most of those features are half baked in implementation anyway.

For example with the S8, Apple advertises FaceID as more secure than TouchID. They took a technology and vastly improved upon it. Meanwhile when you activate Samsungs facial recognition it tells you right on the phone that is less secure and can be easily tricked.

Thankfully though Samsung managed to locate the fingerprint sensor just out of reach on the back. I have long fingers and its a stretch, small hands forget about it you'll be adjusting your grip a bit.

The screen does have a higher resolution than the iPhone X though. However by default its set to lower 1080 resolution (FHD+) and warns you when you set it to the higher 1440 resolution (WQHD+) that it will negatively effect battery life.

Whatever floats someones boat I guess.

This guy gets it.

Look at it to unlock. Swipe up to open.

I don't want my phone to be at the home screen every time I look at it. Sometimes I just need to glance at the time or notifications.
Is that right?

I thought when you looked at it, it unlocked and opened the home screen, now swiping required?

You angry bro?

I'm in the same boat as you, I don't think the new iPhone is anything special (and certainly not worth that price tag!) but I wouldn't go round effing and blinding about it. It's a damn phone, chill.

Well Tim Cook's visionless Apple is finally showing its results.
His vision is Samsung without the exploding phones?
[doublepost=1505293256][/doublepost]
Well to be honest I expected pretty much what was announced so no surprises there. What I find highly insulting is all the stuff the have and they act like they are the first, paving the way for innovation and “defining the future of smartphone” when frankly everything seen here had appeared in other devices,
Let’s take a few examples:
OLED screens, really? Samsung has had it in their phones since the S2 probably
Edge to edge screen: again let’s look at Android phones
Wireless charging: same as above
“Revolutionary” Face ID: Windows says hello, same technology, mix of infrared with standard camera, can recognize you in the dark.
The iPhone X is a cool device, is what the iPhone should have been at least last year, but don’t come and try and fool anyone pretending you are innovating in every area. You are not.

And the premium price, the industry is going nuts charging so much for phones you replace every other year, and they are getting away with it because we keep buying.

Yep bugs me a bit too, they've finally found an OLED display worthy of the iPhone...thanks Samsung. Listening to Phil yesterday it was almost as if they'd invented wireless charging and the Qi standard was obscure and unknown.

May be the effect of too much corporate BS and not enough input to spur innovation. I read a story where two different former Apple execs and employees say Jobs liked input, he listened to what employees had to say, encouraged them to share ideas, and then made his final decision on the direction of a product.

Apparently Cook runs the company like a typical CEO. He does not make the final decision on his own. He relies on other execs to make recommendations to him and the consensus amongst execs makes the decision. In turn execs have turned the company into a "keep your head down and do your job" work environment. No wonder everyone looks scared.
