i think it's time for apple to explain what's going on.
Anyone denying these scientific reports shouldn't be responded to at this point. Apple launched 6s on iOS 9. Slowed it down on iOS 10. Now iPhone 7 launched on iOS 10. Home button slowed down on iOS 11 and the phone is slowed down on iOS 11.2
[doublepost=1513620869][/doublepost]
And what does that show as far as any actual reasoning and intent (if it exists)? This has nothing to do with what I've been talking about--after all this time either you are somehow still misunderstanding this particular aspect of discussion or just trying to deflect from it, but in either case that hasn't been what it's been about as far as the part that I've been commenting on.
You were saying the article is full of opinion but these graphs cannot be denied. Some iPhone 7 models have been slowed down on iOS 11.2.

I didn't say the article was full of opinion, I pointed out that when it comes to reasoning/intent/conclusions the article itself points out that those parts were opinion/conjecture with the words that were used. It's been fairly clear as far as what I said, there's no need to try to twist things to make it appear as something else when it clearly isn't.

I updated my 6 from 10.3 to iOS 11 when I got my X on November 21st, in order to be able to restore from a backup. It had been running as smooth as can be - very snappy. Now that it’s on 11.2, it’s as slow and stuttery as hell. Just because Apple makes 11.2 “function” on older devices doesn’t mean they’re not kneecapping them by refusing to optimize properly. And in this case, “support” is a meaningless word for people who want to keep using their 3 year old phones.

i also can confirm this!my co-worker received his replacement i phone 7 with ios 10 and its very snappy compared to my girlfriends 1 year old iphone 7 with ios 11.2.1,man apple screwed us again.
The first thing I noticed when my iPhone 7 upgraded to 11 was the slower home button. Second being battery drain. With this latest news this further confirms Apple isn't interested in proving a good iOS experience for the 7 users

None of those things really being related to any of this.

maybe not directly with battery but this still shows that they slowed down older devices

Some are just in perpetual denial mode that there is no use to convince them otherwise.

Unless this gets any media attention otherwise Apple likely will not provide an official response.

Imo, there is nothing wrong with the iOS 11 experience for me. I can’t speak to the straw man person.

Well I‘m happy that MacRumors is writing about that. I have an iPhone 6s Plus with a new battery. The old one made the same problems. Always when my battery reaches 4%, the CPU goes down from 1848 MHz to 1512 MHz. When it’s 2%, I have only 100 MHz left and look at the benchmarks. Is apple kidding with us?

Not sure how this invalidates anything that was said in previous posts.

Re-reading this, I don't know what you're trying to say? Are you saying your arguments that apple gets a pass are still valid? Are you saying those of us who had a low battery during the warranty period and were refused a replacement all the while Apple was throttling our phones and keeping it a secret are justified?

If it's the former, then GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE ***** SAND!

Your complaining that when your battery is nearly dead power management would try to avoid a sudden shutdown?

Caps and using ***** doesn’t really make a post more valid.:)

BTW, would you consider the bolded text that I quoted of you to be a strawman argument, in that it likewise redirected the argument in another direction that had nothing to do with where it started?

And you didn't answer the question, even though all caps was there to make sure that you saw it (it wasn't about being more valid).

News is spreading like wildfire on Twitter. Apple’s complete silence on this conveys a message than a statement ever would.
[doublepost=1513660914][/doublepost]
I am guessing the media won't pick it up unless a class-action lawsuit actually gets organized and filed.
They won’t risk it unless the news is Apple friendly otherwise they risk losing an invite to Apple events. TheVerge was quick to publish that Futuremark report saying planned obsolescence didn’t exist but are conveniently ignoring this one which refutes it.

I haven't seen it mentioned on twitter more than once, and that one time was the MacRumors story today based on flaky geekbench data.

I don't think any of this mindless speculation is worthy of a response from Apple. They'll ignore it and so they should.

Rene Richie who looks into any Apple drama hasn't even dignified this nonsense with a tweet let alone story on iMore. There is one very short story on iMore about it, written by someone else, and thats it. Time to move on for all of us I say.

And hence planned obsolescence was successfully proven. It’s not surprising if they won’t comment as they have been caught red handed.

Nope. Nothing has been proven, not even close.

Tell that to the people whose iPhone 7 has been slowed down in iOS 11.2.

Hahaha. Rene Ritchie and a dignified response on anti Apple news. Good one.

Rene Richie would have looked into this if it was legitimate. He has investigated countless Apple dramas doing the rounds on the interwebs. Whether you would have agreed with his conclusions or not, is a separate matter. But if it is was a real deal problem for Apple Richie would be all over it.

Of course its not a problem for Apple. Its a problem for the customer. Apple is not obligated to respond to this. But the lack of response on this news says it all
