The current boxy iPhone design feels like a deliberate move—clean, structured, and a little rigid. But Apple’s patent for an all-glass, rounded-edge phone suggests they’re heading back toward something more fluid and natural. It’s a shape that feels more like a pebble worn smooth by water—comfortable, organic, and meant to fit the hand, not just look sharp on a shelf.

Some months ago, MacRumors had an article describing the more likely, limited direction this is headed: a screen with no bezel, whose edges wrap around in a downward curve to just a bit below where the upper edges of the current frame are located. The goal is to create a more "immersive" effect.

The all glass, multi-sided phone concept in particular feels like a solution in search of a problem - with the increased issue of greater fragility all for the benefit of users who apparently can't hold their device the right way round so they can see the screen.

I see a huge increased chance of inadvertently touching buttons on both locked and unlocked mode.

In fact, ever since Apple had removed the slide-to-unlock, it went down hill. Countless unwanted screenshots, sudden scrolling or zooming and most of all... inadvertently touching a notification when getting the phone from my pocket and erasing it in the process.

Honestly... there's really no need for an all glass and all screen enclosure. It's as if Apple designers expect users to continuously show off their phone on a pedestal or something. Just keep it simple, one side screen with enough bezel that everyone can hold their phone firmly.

Will be nice to see such a device. However don't think it will be durable at all. An Apple watch with glass edges is more possible than this at least for the near future.

I understand the desire to differenciate from the competition...but I will have to insist glass is not a good material, for anything that's not a screen (and it's still rather fragile, at that).

Transparent displays only works in movie/tv. Imagine if you cant see half you are reading in any light.

For some reason this brings to mind that M Night Shyamalan movie Unbreakable
