Yeah Apple's customer service is awesome, They upgraded me from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4 after I had a few problems with my 3GS the last one being the case cracking.

I am not sure about this whole offering to upgrade you to an product before it has actually been announced when it comes out but also don't think anyone would lie about it unless they are sad and have nothing else to do with their life so if it happens congrats.

they did not indicate iPad 3, they just said "an updated version of the iPad", which i presume means iPad 3.

Yes, perfectly logical to presume that they meant iPad 3, not a later iteration on the assembly line or anything like that.

They said "an updated iPad model" I asked if that ment the next generation iPad, and they said yes

Maybe they thought you meant 'iteration' (see my point above). Maybe they wanted to get rid of you. Either way, you're not getting an iPad 3 through this exchange circus.

If I were Apple I'd say 'we do not offer a product to your standards right now; you can keep your current product or we can refund your money'.

Again for the 3rd time,

I will no longer be getting any replacements until there is solid proof these issues are fixed, or if they follow through, replace my iPad 2 with an iPad 3

I don't know why you think i would waste my time posting here if this was fake, when i get proof, i will post it here without giving any contact info about this person

And after the 3rd time you've said this we still see no proof of what was promised....

Ok, well, I just got some more information, this person was from dispatch and had no right to promise that I would be able to upgrade my iPad 2 to the iPad 3

I talked tonight to a Corporate Customer Care Administrator and they said either I could get a refund, or keep my current (4th replacement) iPad, I asked her if later down the road I could get a replacement if all signs point to the problems have been fixed, she said there is a small chance that I might not be able to replace again, this is getting me a little concerned that I might be stuch with a very expensive lemon and my AppleCare that I bought would not help me in any way

I just hope either the problem is fixed and I can get a replacement or my current iPad is the best I will ever get

Sorry guys :(

No to make you feel bad or anything, but you probably shouldn't've expected anything other than what happened.

This is pretty much what I expected. Not surprised at all.

Yep, I guess it was one of those "too good to be true moments" I still don't understand why there is a small chance they might decline me a replacement iPad 2 when or if these issues are fixed

I bought the top of the line model with AppleCare and this could be a possibility

Faulty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think that any iPad could in theory meet the OP's expectations for what a tablet should be.

I think this is Apple's fault. Their products appeal to the OCD clean freak in all of us and unfortunately for them, attracts uber perfectionist customers that can never be satisfied.

This comes as no surprise to me.
Also, how is
Replacement #4 for loose home button has lines on the screen when waking up
a 'lemon'?
And you're not stuck with it, either. According to your post you have the option to refund it.

Yes, I do have the option, but I cannot go this route, my daily tasks rely on apps developed for iPad

I am concerned this is a problem because it could mean a loose connector or other hardware defects, i am getting some apple engineers to look at it
I am contacting someone that has been helping me out with this issue for a long time to see if later down the road i can get a replacement iPad 2 if these issues are ever fixed

Holy cow....suck it up and use the damn thing already. You have Applecare, so you have two years where the thing can go Tango Uniform and you'll get it fixed/replaced for free....stop obsessing and USE it.

Yes, this is my plan, I'm actually on it now ;)

My goodness, what is up with the build quality of the iPad 2? I know for the most part many of yours are fine, but for those who are having build quality problems, they are seriously going through the ringer. I have 3 friends with iPad 2's and all of them have had theirs replaced at least twice, one of them four times. He went ahead and got a refund, copped the iPad 1 16GB for $350 and used the savings to upgrade to an iPhone 4 refurb for $99. He, as well as I, loves the fit and feel of the iPad 1. I personally would have loved the iPad 2 specs in the same form factor. It may be heavier than the iPad 2, but for me it's perfect.

Of course, we only really hear about the bad cases and never really hear the success stories, especially on these here forums.

LOL :) This thread is amazing!
Well actually, we should stop bothering him; he's only 13. I'm sorry you got your hopes up. I agree with the others, you should return your 5th "lemon" for a refund.

As for your daily tasks, Angry Birds is now available through the Mac App Store.

They actually said they would replace it when a new one comes out?

Also, are there that many faulty ipads made? Mine was fine when it came in. Thankfully.

Ok, well the problem has been fixed (finally) so the case has been closed, and, there is actually almost no games on my iPad, its more like my "on-the-go" computer

13?? I don't care how old he is, his actions are unacceptable.

I'm sure he spent his lawn mowing money on it, but starting rumors on a MacRumors board about getting a free iPad 3 after he got nit-picky over some of his replacement iPad 2s is lame.
