Ironically, I just presented a presentation about the Ipad and I said the mini is coming soon, and here it is.

Weird I just gave a presentation about apple for my speech class. :D It is indeed going to be an expensive holiday season for many apple lovers.

Now the questions is:

why should we own both an iPad mini and an iPad?

Most people probably shouldn't. The target group for the mini is going to be people who wanted a lower price point or a smaller device, not people that already own a regular iPad.

the fact that there are mobile options destroys the competition already

but it's going to be the first iOS device since retina was unveiled that doesn't have retina (people already called me out on this one, which was the iPad 2)

if it has a screen that's viewable in direct sunlight, then that makes it a buy for me

I hope they revise the 9.7" iPad, too

Starting to look more and more like this is the "mass refresh" event WWDC was rumored to be indeed, what with the part number leaks.

USB 3/Ivy Bridge accross the board (Except of course with the Mac Pro) ?

Just in time for the holidays. It makes sense. The updated Air satisfied most of the back to school demand. The 13" Retina MacBook Pro may appeal more to holiday buyers.

Now the choice between 13" Air and 13" Pro will actually be difficult (today it's a no-brainer for me for the Air). As an 11.6" Air owner I probably won't bite this Apple, but it will be a nice option.

Summer 2010: iPhone 4 with Retina unveiled
February 2011: iPad 2 unveiled. No Retina.

None of these hardware changes make any difference to me. iOS and Mac OS X have reached their peaks, forward innovation momentum has stalled. Just look at AAPL over the past month.

so can the fanboys tell me the result of their analysis of those color pattern on the invitation? like WHAT DOES IT MEAAAN? ;)

iPad

I would be very surprised if Apple introduced a new full sized iPad, with the exception of maybe new LTE versions. Unless they're moving away from their annual update cycle or do them bi-annually.

Else my 'new' iPad will become the not-so-new iPad after 7 months!
