When the Apple event starts on September 10 at 10:00 AM PT., it will be 1:00 AM Wednesday, September 11 in Beijing. I wonder if there will be any notable members of the executive team absent from the event in Cupertino so they can be on hand for the Chinese announcement?

No way. The colorful bubbles in the U.S. invite spells 5C all over it. iOS 7 was announced months ago; nothing else to brighten your day if there is no colorful phones!

I predict the iPhone 5C will be China exclusive (unfortunately) and the rest of the world will only get the 5S. It's the only way a separate China keynote the day after makes sense.

Also, if Tim Cook wants to have more iPhone sales in Apple stores (from a previous rumor a couple of months ago), I think some of these colors (for the 5C and 5S) might only be available through Apple worldwide (either online or retail.)

Just my hunch.

And a lower cost phone that is more likely to be bought outright rather than subsidised through a carrier should push people towards buying from apple direct. I know I would buy direct if (when?) I get a 5c.

Good question. Need to check if any of the supersonic jets are still available...

No, and unfortunately, no.

It's roughly 11:30 from SFO to SYD, and checking current flights at FlightAware, it's roughly 13:15 in distance alone from SFO-HKG. So either they would have to be there already, or they would miss the event altogether.

BL.

That's what I'm hoping for. Let me buy the phone outright, and bring my own SIM.

I would expect someone to be in China. Maybe Jonny Ive;-)

The question is... when will they announce anything China Market Specific?
With the split announcements, will they announce for the US 'Market' bump, or will they 'respect' their hosts, and wait until they are live in Beijing?

Not that it makes much difference.

My guess it won't be too many years that it evolves to where it will be a simultaneous announcment based in Chinese time (9am China time, 6pm PT... '9pm Prime Time' East Coast)

Maybe the US presentation will end with a "One More Thing...." that says to stay tuned for the rest of the presentation in China.

Weird

Apple is kinda different now, I mean, you dont see Steve Jobs had Apple held different media events around the world, or am I missing something?

The iPhone coming to the largest carrier in the (now second biggest) and soon to be biggest smart phone market in the world absolutely merits a separate event.

Yeah, but that is either going to be one repetitive or one hell of a short event if they already released it on the event the previous day. Can't really see that. But hey I might be wrong. I'm sticking with my guns though - they won't mention the iPhone 5C on the US event at all, and it will be released on the event the day after as a chine exclusive device. The iPhone 5 16GB will be the budget device for the rest of the world. You read it here first ;)

That could easily refer to iOS 7 and/or the gold/champagne iPhone 5S... Don't get me wrong here - I definitely WANT the iPhone 5C to be a world wide launched device, but if it is - having a separate EVENT it just plain weird.

They've done it before (as mentioned in the article update):
Update: AllThingsD reports that the Beijing event is simply one of three satellite gatherings related to the main event in Cupertino, with other gatherings taking place in Berlin and Tokyo. The Beijing event will presumably occur nine hours after the Cupertino event to offer a more reasonably timed alternative to the live event, which will take place at 1:00 AM Beijing time.
These satellite launches will be held in Berlin, Tokyo and Beijing, and will feature a video stream or replay of the Cupertino event along with some other content. They're not an entirely new occurrence; Apple has done them before in London and Tokyo. That said, this is the first time the company has ever held a satellite launch event in China, one of its most important markets.

Oh ok, if it's just a video replay of the Cupertino event, then that's a whole other thing. Have they sent out invites to the previous events as well? My theory certainly has some holes in it, but i'm sticking with my guns, still think the 5C will be china exclusive. We'll just have to see if i'm wrong i guess :D

i'll definitely go to the iphone 5s launch event in my country, really ecited for the new products:D
