Songs on the au music store cost AUD$1.69. I know this because I bought a song from the au music store on that fateful day in May when it all nearly happened.
The store is still there, it's just in pieces and hidden from the rest of the world. Carn Apple, flick the switch, I want my quality Australian TV on my new iPod in time for Christmas (what quality TV? you may ask, um, I don't know, anything but Blue Heelers)

Anyway, did anyone else read the article in The Australian about how our iTMS is really close to opening? It was from about last week or so. It didn't have anything in it beside speculation on the internet (probably just this thread 🙄 ) though so I don't think there's anything in it. 🙁

Appletalk.com.au now report that there's a media briefing on Tuesday 25th October organised by Apple Australia with the heads of the iTMS and iPod Marketing. So finally there might be some progress...

It's about time Australia gets iTunes....

And in May it got delayed, just like it did in September, and twice in October. I'm the guy posting that news - and I stand by it.Bern said:

Also, it is highly unusual for Apple to organise media briefings unless there is a product announcement. I thought that if this was just for a few journo's that it could be to get momentum up by announcing a release date... But they don't need to get momentum up.. there's already rabid demand in the Australian marketplace for iTMS and Australia is one of the highest-selling regions for iPods already.
I'm not 100% sure it'll be iTMS AU - but i do know it has something to do with it.

In any event your advice has been way off before apparently. I hope this time you're right and ITMS does come to Australia when you say, I guess that would be a feather in your cap for your Apple Forum.
As I said before though I think ITMS will be too pricey for the quality of music you can buy from it considering the greedy music industry executives in Australia want to ensure they get their piece of the cake. I think I'd still prefer to buy the original cd.

I remember the last Apple media event held down here, around the time of the iTMS rumours in April.
Basically Apple got all the journos together and did the whole:
"This is an iPod. Can you say that? eye, pod."
"This is an iPod mini. After me everyone... eye, pod, mee, nee"
"Now, these things play music but it's not on CD's it in little 1's and 0's - what's that? - no, it's not the devil's work, the devil made this: it's called cree-ay-teeve zen."
"So in conclusion, iPods are cool. Thank you all for coming and mind the steps on your way out."

My advice has been spot on - and then the store gets delayed, and pushed back. I can't go back in time from when a record company has pulled out of the deal and change last week's news. The thing is, the bigger sites will link appletalk on "iTMS Date is: xx/xx/xx" news articles, but wont link on "iTMS delayed, again." so you never see the update.
And it isn't my forum. It is everyone's 😉 I don't claim ownership to it, and the site is completely non-profit.
I share your sentiments though - iTMS: about time. Too pricy if it comes out at $1.69/75 though.
