Apple Just Increased Prices on MacBooks, iPads, and More

Have you been in your Apple Store lately it does not seem to have an affect our stores in Houston Texas still crowded and people are purchasing.

One thing we have to remember about all the anecdotal evidence like this is that large numbers are really hard for us humans to interpret and extrapolate into for broader understanding.

If I spent all my time observing Apple Stores in major cities, I'd easily always think everything is great and sales are booming, as in those isolated situations there will basically always be a plethora of well resourced folks to come and get more kit.

The one exception is that almost nobody has really been interested in the Vision Pro, even in very well off Apple Store locations I've been to frequently. 🤣

The spot ("market") price is expected to double over the next 12 months (or less). However, companies like Apple are now locking in (or being forced by the suppliers to lock in) very long-term contracts (upwards of five years) at current prices. So even if the "bubble" pops in the next couple of years, they will still be paying a premium for some time and therefore prices will likely not recede until the early 2030s, at best.

I asked ChatGPT if there was only a 1% chance of Mac prices going down in the future. The answer was: 'No, it's much higher—about 10%.' Cool! Now I’m just waiting for hyperinflation to drive my salary up by 25%. But if that actually happens, we might have bigger problems to worry about (like mortgage rates)

Here is a crazy idea: What if Apple starts using Fast Cycle DRAM (FCRAM) in their products instead of SDRAM? Even better, Apple makes their own quality FCRAM?

Dunno. Just about everyone is making new RAM fabs to compensate. Our state has a new one and they just broke ground on another elsewhere. I think this is a choke-point ATM. Now will prices come down on Apple products? Perhaps just the storage (who knows), but I suspect I won't pay 200 for a 1TB external SSD in a year or so.

I was bored this morning so I compared prices across the board both computing and AV everything has taken a price bump and some can blame it on Tariffs ,AI and chip mfg greed but the other factor is bean counters demanding a sizable increase quarter after quarter which is passed down to the consumer that will never change.
