Alright alright, maybe not totally, I have loved JBing these past years, but the title at least caught your attention? Anyhow, I've always claims that the main reasons for me jBing are 1)better lockscreen 2)better messaging 3)unlock ability/tether and 4)SBS shortcuts. As far as I can see from the new iOS 5, they pretty much satisfy 3 of those 4 ideals. Also, I'm questioning how jBing will work with over the air updates for the iOS... Just interested to see if other people think similarly.

Well the best reason for Jailbreak. Winterboard

Well the best reason for Jailbreak: AppSync. At least AT$T can't detect for that..... Yet. Can't wait for the deadly text message for that.

I think this shows it best. The best reason to jb is ________ (fill in the blank). We each have at least one thing we can't live without. Mine is quick send/reply with iRealSMS. I've never even heard of AppSync!

I will JB 5 for:

-Activator
-Backgrounder
-biteSMS
-FakeClockUp
-FolderEnhancer
-ManualCorrect
-SpringFlash
-SwitcherMod
-TetherMe
-3G Unrestrictor

Will jailbreaking interfere with the iCloud concept? I mean, if jailbreakers have pirated apps (support the developers please) or other content, could Apple potentially fine you for it?

Same here. I'm pretty much done on needing a JB now. The only reason that I'd want to JB now is to do very basic things now like winterboard, 5 icon dock and multifl0w... and tethering if AT&T doesn't send me a threatening email. That's about all I can think of.

But the bigger question... will new iphones even be JB capable? Aren't we still waiting on a non tethered iPad 2 JB?

The new notifications system is awesome looking but you still have to exit your current app to compose a text message. That's a deal breaker for me and will ensure that I continue to jailbreak for, if for no other reason, BiteSMS.

Oh yeah, and tethering. :)

Agree wholeheartedly. I'm shocked that quick reply wasn't added to the messaging app. After using BiteSMS for so long, I'm not sure I can do it any other way.

Wans't this shown to be in iOS 5?

There's a calender option that's missing but it's still close enough.

Are we sure it's not snuck in with the 200 improvements? I never used bitesms so I'll hve to see what I'm missing before I cast my vote.

Couldn't agree with you more. Plus with Tlert I have the ability to just compose a new SMS without ever leaving the app (I have it set to do this after I hit volume down then quickly hit volume up). These two things are issues that need addressed, as well as group SMS/MMS/Email.

I still need SBsettings, bitesms, poof to hide apps I dont use and Apple refuses to let us delete, place more than 12 apps in one folder, add 5 icons to the dock, and move2unlock to get rid of that hideous lock screen with the huge ugly clock..... plus Apple still has the same UI look from 4 years ago... would it kill them to spruce it up a little bit? so anyways I need to theme it up every once in a while to keep it interesting

I'm not sure, but I guess we'll have to see what the Devs who are using the iOS 5 beta have to say about it.

If you've never used it and text a lot, run out and get it. The quick reply feature alone is a must have. Not having to leave the app you are in to return a text is priceless....as is the ability to respond from your lockscreen as well.

BiteSMS is really the only thing I'm gonna miss and oh yea FakeClockUp.
I have been preserving my baseband but I'm gonna upgrade tonight on my Dev account. I'll try my iPad 2 first and then my phone.

Even though Apple borrowed pretty heavily from the JB community I am still happy they implemented many of the features I JB my phone for in the first place. By iOS 7 or so they will have everything!

Lockinfo still has the new lockscreen beat. Also, Infinifolders is a must because 12 apps per folder is not enough. Add in tethering, SBSettings, FakeClockUp, and a few other things and it's easy to understand that jailbreaking is still needed.

SBSettings and FakeClockup would be missed, both are great tweaks.
As far as having more than 12 apps it's not quite as important anymore.
I'm going to upgrade and then if a Jailbreak comes out I'll probably do it
then. I think the days of waiting for the Jailbreak first before upgrading are over. Apple has added enough features now that I feel for me at least that I can use the stock firmware and be mostly satisfied.

Lockinfo still has the new lockscreen beat.

How so? It's the same thing sans the calendar (month view), with the addition of better look and feel (they must have seen Element :) ) and you can swipe to go to an app for the notification.

You can swipe to go to the app for the notifications in LI also. Plus LI supports lots of plugins

As long as there is a JB..i will...just because I can.

Does the new lockscreen notifications display current weather and calendar appointments? If not, then I hardly see how it even comes close to LockInfo!

When Apple finally duplicates LockInfo, BiteSMS, and PDANet then I won't need to Jailbreak.
