Just got off the phone with Apple and was told no commitment purchasing was not available. So I called an AT&T operator and although she was unsure of availability of no commitment phones, she did have all the price and month to month plan information to give me. My take is that no commitment customers are clearly being pushed to the back of the line, behind the contract-salivating masses. I'm sure all of this will become clearer on Thursday, when people try to purchase at full price. Will they get turned away?

I suggest printing out the FAQ, keeping it, and raise a stink. After all, you're still an AT&T customer! Some people want the phone at any cost, why should this be any different?

reservation

my reservation says 699
im buying it for that price, what if i didnt have an upgrade and they wouldnt let me buy it, i have to pay 699 and sign another two years?
doesnt sound right. or ill start a new account and close it the next day paying my 375 etf

Then that's exactly what you will doing.

Both Apple and ATT make more off the monthly fee than the profit off the actual iPhone.

This is the most opposite statent one could make.

1) Apple makes nothing from AT&T's monthly service charges.

2) AT&T actually makes more if you don't buy the phone subsidized because you pay the same monthly rate.

dfs

im just to god damn lazy to cancel the plan
im going to buy it and call later that day and say it was stolen i hate this but if i have to i have to

If that's the case, then add a new line to be eligible to purchase the phone at the upgrade price and then cancel that contract + line and in the end it'll cost you as much as buying it non-commitment

I believe you can buy a no-commitment iPhone only if you are already an AT&T postpaid account holder. If you are not, you must open an account and sign a contract at the time of purchase.
