Prediction Time!

Mine:

iPhone 6 (4.7")
iPhone 6 (5.5") (**cough** 1080p was wrong)
- 128gb option, A8, camera bumps, NFC, Wireless Charging (to match the new iWatch feature)
- iOS8, HomeKit, HealthKit, iWallet, Siri upgrade

iWatch
- integrating much of the above, focused on health and perhaps iWallet
- NFC integrated with HomeKit, iWallet, etc

appleevent3-420x315.jpg

The big white box will contain a "home" where Apple can show off the new HomeKit features with approved partners. Perhaps have a "workout room" to display some of the HealthKit features of the new iWatch.

Can I get a quick summary of why some people think there's not going to be a 5.5" version? Cliff notes.

Seems like there's a lot of smoke to not be a fire to me.

The 2011 tapered 'iPhone 5' says "Hi!"

That was just one prototype. There have been way too many different indications for there to not be a 5.5".

OP seems reasonable, though I don't expect Siri improvements or Wireless charging. And I wouldn't be surprised if the "iWatch" is just a souped-up Fuel Band-like thing, without a screen. Which won't ship until November.

My predictions:

iPhone:
  • 4.7" (lower-end) and 5.5" (higher-end) models
  • Some multiple of 736x414 for the 5.5"
  • A8 SoC
  • CPU: Cyclone, dual-core, 2.0-2.4 GHz max boost, 1.3-1.5 GHz base
  • GPU: PowerVR G6630, ~600 MHz (I don't expect any custom GPU here)
  • Up to 128 GB storage on the 5.5"
  • $199 (4.7") and $299 (5.5") for the U.S. subsidized prices of the base models
  • No "6c" or "5sc" type model
Wearable:
  • A watch called the iWatch will be announced
  • It'll use an SoC distinct from the A-series used in the iPhone and the iPad
  • Apple-designed CPU, much smaller and lower power than Cyclone, dual-core configuration
  • I'm going out on a limb here and predict that it'll be the first product with a custom Apple GPU (Apple has been rumored to be designing their own GPU)
Other:
  • Home and health will be a large focus
  • That covered structure is a mock home
  • I don't expect any new Macs at the event, but if there are any, I think a Retina iMac is most likely
  • No new iPod or iPad announcements

There is no 5.5" iPhone, people! I don't care what they announce on stage!

HOLY SH- You sure are hopeful. Apple currently is making 1.3 GHz CPUs. What in the world makes you think they will jump 1.0-1.1 GHz for the 4.7 and 1.4-1.5 GHz for the 5.5 in just one new iteration of iPhone???!!!

Anyway...

---My Prediction---

4.7" iPhone:

1.5 GHz A8 (POSSIBLY, maybe.. Quad core CPU)

Hopefully 2GB of RAM, but sadly I think there's a chance they might stick with 1GB >_>

10MP camera, further lens improvements

1810 mah battery I think is what was rumored

5.5" iPhone (If there is one):

I think they should continue with their practices of the whole Retina Mini and Air sort of situation. Same (or at least similar) specs, different size for people who have different needs and wants. Everyone is happy with the peak, flagship, performance, *and* size of their device.

However, if they have decently differing specs, I predict the following for the 5.5" iPhone if they make it:

1.6-1.7 GHz A8 CPU (again, possibly quad core CPU, if the 5.5 gets it, I think the 4.7 will because they both should be getting the A8 chip just with minor differences in clock speeds)

2GB of RAM, but I think there definitely is still a possibility of Apple disappointing us with 1GB.

12MP camera, lens improvements

Not exactly sure what they will do with the battery. Or the display resolutions for either phone for that matter.

I agree with most of your predictions except the wireless charging, mainly bc of the reversible usb and charger leaks. Wireless would be awesome though. In any case, it's about damn time! Feels like an eternity hearing all these rumors.

I tend to agree with you, but the the fact I'm pretty confident the iWatch will be wirelessly charged and the new patents about a NFC/wireless charger combo... made me take the leap. :)

It's quite possible the iWatch is wirelessly charged and the iPhone isn't, but it would make sense to add it to both if you add it to one.

Yea maybe i bit high on the 4.7. maybe 2.0-2.1

but Sonny Dickson was in the 2.5.-2.7 range when he made his prediction so if there is any truth i would assume the 5.5 gets that.

The base model iPhone won't increase to $299 on contract. That's sales suicide and would guarantee that the iPhone 6 would be the first iPhone to not outsell its predecessor.

I still think 2.5-2.7 is way too much of a difference, even for the 5.5. Apple jumped from I believe somewhere in the 400 MHz area to 600 MHz area, to 800 MHz, (I can't remember if the A5 was 800 MHz or 1000 MHz, it got dual core though), then to 1.3 GHz for both the A6 and A7 chip, except the A7 got an architectural upgrade, 64 bit.

there is rumor that the extra 100 is across the board on both models. It wouldn't be a surprise. Life is getting expensive just in general.....

Besides, to many Apple faithful. People will pay.

Maybe the ~2.6 GHz range is a boost clock and the base will be considerably lower. Still, those clocks seem a bit high to me.

for the rumored pixels.....its not out of this world.

but i agreed....the 4.7 to be in the mid 2's was probably to much. I think flat 2.

I'm expecting a wearable. Its most likely going to be a watch that is centered around Siri.

Yeah I just can't see them doing that. At most maybe the 5.5" would start at $299 but not the 4.7".

Walk into a carrier store and you see all the other flagships at $199 (S5, HTC M8, LG G3) while the iPhone is $299. I think you guys are underestimating how many people buy based off price first despite their love for Apple. Also what do you suppose would occupy the $199 price point? Surely they couldn't keep selling the 5S for $199.

What I do think is we might see a 128GB model introduced at $499 (with contract).

Guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.
