Downloaded. I seriously used this app a lot a few weeks ago when I visited the USA. I spent a good 30 minutes calling my parents every night and the video and sound quality was brilliant.

I'll gladly pay £0.59 to keep this great app up-to-date.

Wait, what's the point of buying FaceTime if you are upgrading to Lion? Shouldn't FaceTime already be included then?
I can see iChat getting the kick now, it makes no sense to have iChat and FaceTime on a Mac.

I travel a lot and frankly, for me, FaceTime works much better than Skype to connect with my family. I can see how folks who don't use it or use it rarely would not care to spend the $0.99. But for me, this is a no-brainer and an easy purchase.

its a dollar, I don't get why people get up in arms about that.

they put effort into it, why not pay for great work?

Please may someone tell me the system requirements for Facetime HD, if anyone knows yet? The support article isn't available but if anyone does know, it'd be great. My machine is in my sig.

Thanks!

so i spend £180 on an iPod touch and facetime is free. I spend £2100 on a 17" MBP and I STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR FT! WTF!

So we have 1280*1024 sensors in our iSights (well at least the 2010 models do). Does this new version of FT allow us to use the full resolution of the sensor?

You would think so. And the MacBook Air was advertised as having a FaceTime camera. So I wonder if they would support the higher resolution too?

EDIT: Probably not since it's called a FaceTime HD camera. But in reality, it's probably the same camera as the older Mac's have but Apple is just letting the new Mac's have full use of the camera. It's Marketing, lol!

How is v1.0 different than the beta version? Do I need to download the paid version if I already have the beta installed on my Mac?

I have the same question. Unfortunately, no one who's had the Beta and also downloaded the $0.99 version will answer. I would think this would be the first question on people's minds. Not the $0.99. If it had more features, I'd pay the $0.99 - but I'm still waiting to hear what they are (if any)!

So far I haven't seen any difference. No new options whatsoever.

What bothers me is that there is no way to see status information, or set presence status. It is like having an old telephone. You call someone and you don't even know if he/she is available.

iChat is so much better. I don't really understand why Apple didn't just develop it further. They should just give us iChat on the iPhone and iPad and drop facetime (or integrate it in iChat).

Thank you so much! Finally- someone has answered the question! How simple was that? I swear, some people on this board get so confused.

I will stick with my FREE beta version then (unless Apple decides to take it away at some point... then I will by it) since it has the same features the paid version does.

Thanks again! :)

I wonder if they'll add some kind of feature so the receiving end can see what you're doing on your end. Kind of like the Mac equivalent to the dual cameras on the iPhone/iPod. I think it'd be pretty helpful a lot of people.
