Apple have often been confused regarding the 3yr warranty, even when you ask live chat previously they normally say you have to pay for Apple Care. Not saying they haven't removed it this time, but previously it has looked like you are only getting 1yr unless you pay for Apple Care and then they email you about the 3yr warranty extension about a month or so after purchase.

The chat agent specifically said to me that it was the case previously and that "this has recently changed" and that yes the higher education agreement no longer entitles UK uni students to 3 years at no cost, but has been replaced with the discounted AppleCare for £99. Unfortunate if this is a permanent change.

Is that sarcasm? Or did you forget to replace Beats with bose and solo2 with QC35

Bose? Buy Other Sound Equipment?

No. It isn't sarcasm. And it's supported by the nerdy, high-nosed hi-fi community that would laugh at anyone saying Bose.

This might not have happened today. I bought a MacBook Air in store using an NUS card on 15th May which came with 1 year and I was offered a discounted AppleCare. Maybe I'm missing something though.

WRONG! I'll await your apology shortly:- )

I have given you a concrete example that the macbook 12 has increased to £944 (it was £904 yesterday)
Only ONE year of applecare, as of today (50% discount = £100 if you want 3 years applecare)
What??? That's crazy. No more 3 years? F that. What u gonna do? Keep buying their products or stop?

The school year does not change . What I'm saying is that this year students are unlucky as they are offered EOL hardware, next year students will be offered hardware that is new. Apple does not discount at all. Students have always had perks, it's just this year the timing is bad, cause brand new hardware will come after school starts

Timing is always bad for this promotion. As already mentioned, this is how it works every year. The promotion runs and ends, then new computers come out. You can buy now to get some stupid headphones or wait to get a potentially better computer.

Not true at all. MacBook 12 was refreshed just a couple months ago. In previous years the MacBook airs were updated just a couple of weeks BEFORE the promotion began

Gonna keep buying, babe

It used to be that if you ordered online from the UK HE store you got three years warranty (but one year Applecare phone support) as well as the 14.5% discount. In store it was always one year but you can buy the £49 discounted Applecare to make it up to three.

A shame. There also hasn't been a 0% finance offer for years.

Apples discounted prices are still higher than most retailers original prices around here..
Buying the iPad PRO 128GB with free headphones save you a total of about $1,50!inc VAT :D

I was referring to the MBP that was previously mentioned, so yes, partially true. I should have been more specific.

That is true , I'm just saying 2016 is particularly bad, due to how out of date the hardware is. I'd be really disappointed with Apple if they held back releasing the new hardware, till the promotion was over so they could clear old stock

I think it now matches Microsoft.

I've looked at my order from 4th June of this year, and it looks like my AppleCare is valid for 3 years. I think I calculated the discount to be £100 less than before.

Using my exact configuration, this is the latest price at this moment in time:

I see a lot of disgrunted folk moaning about this and that with this Apple offer! Really you spoiled brats ! Worked all my life never got any offer of price reductions when college and buy all my Apple products at full price you complainers get a life ,no doubt mummy and daddy are buying it anyway and no doubt in the UK the old student loan ( payed by the tax payer may I add ) will be footing the bill .

You sound like one of those pampered baby boomers with a triple-lock pension who now relies on the millennials to support you. This 'back to school promotion' is no big giveaway, more an old stock clearing exercise.
