My kids bought 3 Beats products: the pod thing, corded earphones and bluetooth earphones- Battery won't charge in pod, one ear dead in corded, band came apart in bluetooth in just over a year. When you check on the net, every one of the problems is well known. I rewired the corded pair took me over 3 hours. Flimsiest wire you ever saw. Nothing special about the drive units. Taped up the corded pair, won't close but still work.Sell the "free" beats and buy Bose QuietComfort 35s.
They are uncomfortable and the sound quality is OK at best on all three
I have 2 pairs of Sennheiser which are old and pretty good frankly. Not at all tiring and although they aren't really great anywhere, they aren't bad anywhere either. Clear treble, not bass heavy.
But my son bought some Quiet Comfort 35 which are simply amazing. OK if you don't like the Bose but Audio Technica, Parrot etc are way better then the Beats. But don't dis the Bose until you try them the sound stage is incredible.
But here's the thing. I bought some Bluetooth headphones for my 10 year old daughter and they are made by MPow. They look at least as good as the beats (without the name of course) and the build quality is definitely better. They are more comfortable on the ear. The bluetooth works over 7mtrs with no problems. They have a mike and volume controls on the side and you can even use them to answer a call. No problems with connection or battery life I can recall.
Listening to audio quality, it's pretty much the same. Neither is really great, both are ok- nothing noticeably bad or tiring. Both a bit bass heavy and slightly muddy in the mid range. The Beats are slightly better at really high volume but I defy anyone to tell which is which in a listening test. You might choose one or the other because for your taste but that's all.
The only real difference is the Mpow cost $35 (Bluetooth Over ear M3 if you are interested)
Give Beats a miss. They aren't worth the money either for sound quality or build quality.
Oh, I forgot. The Mpow are supposed to have noise cancelling as well. I think it works a bit but it isn't like on the Bose.
