Apple Launches 2022 Back to School Offer: Up to $150 Gift Card With Mac or iPad

does anyone know HOW we will be receiving the $150 gift card? when i purchase a qualifying mac (a MacBook air for example), will the gift card be automatically be mailed to my residence?

and since this is a back to school promotion, does this only apply to the apple education store?

It will be emailed to you. It is not limited to the Apple Education Store.

Qualified Purchasers shall receive a discount equal to the value of the Apple Gift Card off the price of the eligible Mac or iPad, but will be charged for all items in their cart, including the Apple Gift Card…Qualified Purchasers selecting ACMI (a 0% APR payment option) as payment type at checkout shall receive a discount equal to the value of the Apple Gift Card off the price of the eligible Mac or iPad. This will result in one ACMI installment plan over 12 months for the eligible iPad or Mac discounted by the instant credit, and a second ACMI installment plan over 12 months for the full price of the Apple Gift Card. The total combined amount charged over the two separate ACMI installment plans will reflect the original full retail price of the Eligible Product. Separately, Qualified Purchasers will receive and be charged for the Apple Gift Card in the amount of the applicable discount off the eligible Mac or iPad.

Came here trying to figure this out as well? What I can gather is that an additional credit was taken off the purchase and a gift card will be sent out as well. It should not be a net $300 difference so that has to be paid back? I’m confused.

The way I understand it is, you are only paying for the price of the discounted product in total. The $150 gift card was deducted but then added to the amount. So if you decide to return the product you get to keep the GC but you will pay for it regardless. So if I decided to return the M2 MBA I would get a refund of $949 plus tax.

So yes, it is then built into monthly payments if you decided to pay that way but in the end you are only paying for the total price of the product you purchased. I tried that with the base model M2 MBA and my 12 month payments reflected $1099 divided into 12 months and that included the GC.

What Apple is doing, is not giving away "free gift cards" if someone decided to return the item. I hope that answers your question.

I'm not sure if someone answered this on the thread but after the purchase of the Macbook, can you apply the $150 GC to that same order or do you have to use it on something else?
 
I bought my silver MacBook Air M1 8GB/256GB on Monday 8/8. Beautiful machine and I love it. I saw both M1/M2 models at the Apple store and wasn't a huge fan of the M2 slab style nor the notch. Got the education discount for $899 as well as a bonus $150 Apple Gift Card. The back to school promotion is fantastic if you have student credentials!

Not necessarily. They have it where now you can get AppleCare over a 24 month period and you pay monthly so it renews every month, but I believe you can also pay for it in full. If you’re paying for it monthly they require you to have a credit card on file just in case the balance from your gift card isn’t enough to cover the charge and they can charge your credit card instead.

Correct - Gift cards can be used to pay for the multi-year plan; month to month needs a card (credit or debit).
