No competition means slow innovation pace. This web store should have been released 10 years ago.

It's not even a store really, it's more like window shopping from the curb since you can't do anything but "look".

I totally get how we are all Apple fans, but why on Earth are we ok with this ABYSMAL pace of progress?

This entire feature should have been a thing 15 years ago.

It's about time..! I don't really use the app store anymore since I have things set up the way I like it, but it's nice to know this is an option if need be; easier browsing and reading reviews in a big browser windows instead of an iPhone screen.

Edit: I can't login and select an app for purchase or install......just look at them? Why?!
Same here. Whenever I check the App Store for something I make sure I skip all apps marked with the in-app purchase tag. No more renting software.

More like “expected” to me. They want to link you to where you can actually buy stuff!

What this should do is expose some of the App Store write ups like this one
to the internet. Since I do almost ALL my searching for new apps via a search engine, just adds to the wide amount of information available to me.
this is the actual link in the article:
so no surprise indeed it opened the App Store on the phone.
just typing in apps.apple.com in safari on the iPhone opened the website, as I'd had expected

Maybe a silly question, but why would anyone want to use this on an iPhone or iPad vs just using the actual App Store on the device?

It's the same info, but with less functionality (no ability to buy/install)

I remember when it was called "Itunes" and it had everything. I even remember the joke that was made at a WWDC about it having everything. Yeah Itunes became slow, but with some refinement, maybe Apple should have Itunes 2.0 and make it faster?

I had my iPhone in my hand as this article was published so was curious about the interface ...

A personal pet-hate of mine is that there's no separate 'Top IAP Apps' section under the charts for each App category. The 'Top Free Apps' charts are just loaded with apps which aren't really free and are largely useless without the IAP. I have no issue with apps offering IAP's (I have purchased some perpetual licences using IAP's) but it irks me that there are many apps which abuse appearing as 'Free' in order to increase their conversion rates for their truly paid app, whilst many VERY good and TRULY 'Free' apps don't get the exposure they deserve in the App Store charts, many of which fully satisfy the requirements of what I'm looking for. I rely fairly heavily on the App Store charts for purchasing decisions on the App Stores. I wish Apple would fix this too!

Apple needs an option in settings to always open URLs in the browser. I hate when I tap on a link and it opens the app instead of the website. If I wanted to use the app I would have launched the app.
or prompt with an option.
if I receive an email say from my bank, I'd rather would a link open the app vs the webpage cause identification is much simpler when you have faceid ...
